Tomorrow is my first day off of five days in a row! Wahoo!
My work schedule is a little unusual. I work five days a week, but one of those days is Saturday. My days off are Thursdays and Sundays. While I like having Thursdays off, a nice break in the middle of the week, I DON’T have a regular two day weekend, so I never have two days off in a row, let alone five!
So anyway, I’m off tomorrow as usual, and my 25th birthday is Friday. I took it off work since I worked my birthday last year and did not feel festive. I also took Saturday off since Monday we’re closed for MLK day, and Sundays I don’t work… so VOILA – five day birthday weekend!
It feels so weird (and awesome) to have such a long stretch of time off. I don’t even know what to do with myself! I’m the kind of person that’s always “on,” or at least always feels “on.” Even when I want to relax and should take the time to, I’m always doing something else or at least running through my mind all the things that need to get done. I am constantly feeling stressed and anxious about anything and everything. So, I guess I’d like to relax a bit over the next few days (if I can). I’d also like to celebrate (duh!), and get some stuff done around the house that needs some doing.
Tomorrow, I’ll hit the gym first thing in the morning. That’s my usual Thursday routine. Then Jerry and I need to make a trip to the bank to get some paperwork sorted for our upcoming mortgage(!). I’m also planning on heading to the mall at some point to check out the library friends book sale. It’s held every year around my birthday (at the mall, since the sale is HUGE) so I always go as a treat to myself. I think I’ll also get my complimentary birthday cookie cake slice (with purchase of beverage) while I’m at the mall. Yum!
Friday, my actual birthday, I took off work. Jerry and I work opposite work schedules basically, so if I wanted to celebrate with my husband (which I wanted to! It’s my first married birthday after all!), I had to take off. We’re doing lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, Critics (chicken and biscuits then fried ice cream for dessert! Woo). That night, I’m doing dinner with my parents at one of my other favorite restaurants, Papa Joe’s. I’m also hoping to see a movie since I have a coupon for a free movie on your birthday. Man, do I love free shit (even when the purchase of a beverage is required. In this case, it’s NOT).
Saturday, I’m hoping to relax, go workout, maybe watch a movie or two with the husband (probably Insidious and its sequel). Then, we’ll go to my parent’s house for our weekly “family fun” dinner along with my brother, sister-in-law, nephew, and uncle. We’re having cookie cake to celebrate mine and Jerry’s birthdays (his is the following week – 27 years old!).
Sunday, we’re doing our family birthday dinner outing to celebrate our combined birthdays. We’re going to a barbecue restaurant called Sticky Lips. Jerry and my brother are partaking in the “Atomic Bomb Challenge.” It’s something like… 5 or 6 pounds of food? Adam Richman of Man Vs. Food couldn’t even finish it! I have a feeling we’re going to have some sick men on our hands that night…
DAYUM, this is a lot of good eating for our birthdays. I’ll probably be back next week 10 pounds heavier or so. WHOA. Watch out. But alas, birthdays come just once a year…
Monday will be the return of normal eating. It will probably be another day of gym and relaxing and enjoying my final day off. Jerry has off too, so it will be nice to spend some time together.
So, those are my super exciting plans for the next few days! What do you do when you get this much time off work?!
