Hey there! I’m Steph, an introverted boy mom of two from Western New York who would almost always rather be reading, usually with a Diet Coke nearby.
Books have always been where I find calm in the chaos, where I reset when everything else feels loud or complicated. It’s been that way for as long as I can remember.
I’ll read just about anything, but thrillers are almost always at the top of the list. I also love mysteries, memoirs, YA, romance, literary fiction, nonfiction, and contemporary fiction, but am especially drawn to stories that are dark and twisty.
A lifelong reader and writer, I hold a Bachelor’s in English Literature and a Master’s in Library Science. I spent years as a public librarian before trading the stacks for a cubicle in public health.
I live for quiet moments and familiar routines. I’m better with a book than small talk, recharge in calm spaces, and tend to overanalyze just about everything. Crowds drain me, noise overwhelms me, and I’m happiest in a quiet corner with nowhere to be.
My brain runs fast and loud. I overthink professionally, spiral on occasion, and can spot a typo from across the room. I’m also a bit of a perfectionist, proudly indoorsy, and socially awkward enough to replay conversations long after they end.
Introvert with a lot to say... just not out loud.
When I’m not reading, you’ll find me actively avoiding unnecessary social interaction, budgeting for fun, listening to country music on repeat, and hoarding chocolate like a preparedness plan. Every now and then, I make it to a musical or talk myself into a run.
Other things I love include documentaries, anything spooky, Grey’s Anatomy on repeat, disappearing into research rabbit holes, and true crime. I frequently appoint myself lead detective on cold cases I have no business trying to solve.
Stories by Stephanie, originally founded in 2009 as Steph the Bookworm, is where I share my musings on motherhood, small moments, and life between books — usually fueled by Diet Coke and a color-coded spreadsheet.
Messy life. Quiet moments. Really good books.
