Caleb turned ten months old yesterday!
Last week, he had a check up and shots. He weighed in at 22 pounds and 13 ounces. His height is 29.75 inches. He’s a big guy and is in the 85th-90th percentile for all of his sizes (weight, height, head). He’s still in size 5 diapers and 18 month clothing. When he got his shots last week, he cried for a second while they were being done and that was it. He is one tough cookie!
His two top teeth have broken through this month! Now he’s got those two and his bottom two and he’s looking adorable beyond words. Teething has been horrendous for him though, whenever the teeth are breaking through. We can tell he’s getting new ones because he’ll suddenly start sleeping terribly and get a wicked diaper rash. All of last week, he was waking up between 5 and 5:30 in the morning. This week, he’s pushed it back to 6 or 6:30 so that’s helped save my sanity. Some nights, he’s waking up whining too, so I’m hoping he’ll get some relief soon from the teething pain. My poor man.
We now have a “talker” on our hands! The night before Halloween, he finally said “Dada” back to me, and then the very next day, he said “Mama.” I’d been working on these two words for MONTHS but he usually just looked at me and laughed… but not anymore! He even reached for me and said “Mama” a couple of weeks ago and it was the best feeling ever. He isn’t saying these words a ton, but he does say them on occasion when he feels like it so I’m pretty excited.
He’s also no longer using his baby bath seat, so that’s big news, my friends. I’ll tell ya, this kid is growing up into such a little man and I’m both overjoyed and saddened by it all. He made that decision on his own when he started sitting up out of the seat. I hold onto him really carefully in the tub so he doesn’t fall, but he’s doing pretty well.
This last month, Caleb also went to his first story time and celebrated his first Halloween! We’re looking forward to his first Thanksgiving and Christmas next, and then his first birthday. Shut the front door, people. I’m going to have a one year old in less than two months. We’ve already booked his party and now I’m looking at invitations. This is so surreal. Where has the year gone?!
Oh Caleb, you sure know how to make me mad when you don’t let me sleep or you tear my hair right out of my head, but then you steal my heart with just one little smile, one funny laugh, or one amazing word: “Mama.” You are one of the biggest joys of my life and I cannot wait to celebrate your first holiday season and your first birthday this winter. You are loved like crazy!
