Another Friday, another peek into the chaos, calm, and everything in between. Here's what’s been on my mind this week…
ONE.
I generally don’t talk much about work on here, but I can’t resist sharing some great news! I received a big promotion at work that’s going into effect in September. I’m going from part time to full time, and also moving up in job title. I’ve been waiting for this since I finished my MLS in 2013, and a lot of hard work and patience has gone into this. Yay for good news!
TWO.
One of my best friends was in town last weekend, so we had one of our classic game nights like we used to before he moved. We played Cards Against Humanity and Mad Gab, and just generally laughed hysterically and had a blast. It’s always amazing to me that with true, honest to goodness friends… some things just never change. While we often go a year now without seeing each other, we always manage to pick up right where we left off. I’m glad we can still be a part of each other’s lives and that he’s gotten to spend some time with Caleb the last two summers. Here’s to old, amazing friends! I only have a few, and that’s always been enough for me!

THREE.
My kitchen and dining room have long been pain points for me because of how outdated they both were/are. You probably already know, but I am obsessed with primitive and farmhouse decor and I’ve finally made some progress on my dining room! I replaced an old, ugly hutch with a black primitive hutch, moved a black primitive cabinet out from my room and into the dining room, and replaced an ugly dining room set with a nice one from my Papa who recently passed away. I’ve been on the hunt for a farmhouse table since FOREVER but they’re super expensive around here. Well, this new table has sort of a farmhouse look, and I contacted a place here that makes farmhouse furniture. They’re going to change out the top for a barn wood style top for me. I can’t wait to get it done and share some pictures!
FOUR.
My friend and I signed up for a pet photography class for next weekend. It’s going to be held at one of the local animal shelters (where I adopted Dakota from) and all of the profits from the class are being donated directly back to them. It should be pretty fun!
FIVE.
I’ve been super into organizing and cleaning lately, which is funny if you knew the old me. Walking into my bedroom at my parent’s house was probably a fire hazard because of how messy it was (wish I was kidding), but I’ve gotten really into organizing ever since we bought a house. I took a short break from my Plum Paper Planner, but now I’ve gotten back into it so I can keep lists and cross off tasks. I’ve also been organizing the house room by room. A couple of weeks back, I did the kitchen – I went through cupboards, chucking tons of old food and mismatched tupperware, and it looks so much better. This weekend, the plan is to do the same in my bedroom and Caleb’s. I love the feeling of throwing stuff out or boxing it up to donate and getting it out of the house.
Happy Friday! Here is a bonus pic of my baby boy.
