📝 My Review
I was instantly intrigued by this book as soon as I heard the title and saw the adorable dog on the cover. You all know that I am dog-obsessed, and anything having to do with dogs has my instant attention! Well, I was delighted to find that this book was full of dogs… and their shady owners! While the book didn’t center on the dogs, I did love all the mentions of them.
Anyways, aside from the dogs, this book is full of one mystery and one secret after the other! Kind of in like one of my all time favorite shows, Desperate Housewives, every single person in this neighborhood, it seemed, had a dirty little secret that they would do anything to hide… maybe even kill. A lot of the secrets and mysteries weren’t unraveled until the very end, which I thought was very cool.
While I enjoyed a lot of aspects about this book, I sometimes felt a bit overwhelmed by all that was going on and by the abundance of characters. I think there were just a few too many stories going on with all the neighbors, and I would have liked to see the story focus on just a couple of the residents instead, though a lot of the stories did end up tying together by the end. Though not perfect, this was a good first novel by Duncan Whitehead if you’re a fan of mysteries and dogs!
