Five on Friday (21)

This is just the week that keeps on giving, you guys. Let me tell you. Caleb has been sick due to teething for over a week now and then came down with a fever yesterday. That meant we had to miss his weekly music class (though we did our own little music listening / dancing at home with his CD). Today, I’ve got an all day work conference, and tomorrow I have to work all day (rotating weekends, yo). Here’s what else is going on in our world:

ONE.

We’ve been debating about either moving in the future or staying put in our current house and remodeling the kitchen, and we’ve finally made up our minds. Ultimately, we’ve decided to move in a couple of years. We’ve narrowed it down to a couple of nearby towns and I’m really, really hoping to find an old farmhouse. In fact, that’s probably my biggest dream at the moment… a farmhouse! I’d really like to move to a place that has more of a country or small town feel, so that’s a big factor, but the biggest factor is that the schools in our current town are not good at all. We’ve gone to see a couple of houses for fun and it’s getting me super excited! I’ve spent my whole life in this town, but I’m ready for a change!

TWO.

Last weekend was pretty fun. We took Caleb to a fall event at The Garden Factory where we saw a Pumpkin Light Show, went into a mini petting zoo, and had something to eat. We also went to dinner for our anniversary at our favorite restaurant. Caleb, my picky eater, was pigging out on our greens and beans. Who’d have thought?!

THREE.

I’m starting to plan my Halloween menu! My family comes to my house for Halloween since we have a family friendly neighborhood that’s good for trick or treating and so that Caleb and his cousins can go together (he’s dressing as a fireman this year). So far, I’ve got hot dog mummies, worms in dirt, and maybe a graveyard cake. Any other festive suggestions, feel free to let me know! Can you tell I’m obsessed with Halloween? Favorite holiday ever!

FOUR.

I’m finally feeling truly ready to get back to my fitness and weight loss journey. It’s been a CRAZY few years. I know I have some newer blog friends, so the short story is that from 2012 to 2013, I lost 118 pounds and ran a half-marathon. I did this by tracking my food and exercise on MyFitnessPal where I also met Jerry. Then I got pregnant and gained a lot of it back (about 70 pounds), and now here we are. I now need to lose at least 50 pounds and am starting nearly from scratch with running and fitness again. I’ve made half-hearted attempts since having Caleb, but I just was never ready until now. I’m finally back in that mindset and I’m really excited. I went to the gym one day after work this week (one is better than none!), and I’ve been logging my calories again since Sunday. The scale is starting to go down and I’m feeling good and in control. Updates will occur regularly!

FIVE.

This weekend should be pretty fun, even though I’m working tomorrow! After I get out at 5, Jerry and I are planning on ordering some Chinese food and maybe grabbing some frozen yogurt. Saturdays were always our cheat day during our first weight loss journey, and now we’re going back to Saturday cheat days again. Then we’re planning on having some fall fun on Sunday with the family at the farm where we’ll go on a hayride and pick pumpkins with Caleb and his cousins. Yessss. One of my favorite days of the year! I’m sure this weekend will also involve a horror movie or two after Caleb goes to bed.

That’s five for now — see you in the next chapter.
