Happy Friday, everyone! I’ve had an insane week, with stuff every night this week (book club, a Lularoe party, Caleb’s music class, etc.). It’s all been fun, but I’m looking forward to winding down a bit this weekend when I can. So, let’s get to this week’s five random things!
ONE.
Bully officially left us last Saturday. I miss the big guy, but he’s in a wonderful new home. He had A TON of applicants submitted to the rescue group and ended up going to a really nice family with two daughters. And, if you can believe this… the family goes to the same music class as Caleb so I had seen them a couple of times. They came to my house to visit last Friday and fell in love. It’s a great fit because he will get to be the only dog, and they have previous Bulldog experience (much needed… they could really be their own species! Theirs passed away recently) and feel confident that they can train him. Not going to lie, my heart hurts thinking about him, but I know that this was the best thing we could do for everyone involved, including Bully. They adore him and even said we could come visit and the kids could play and sing their music class songs together. Happy endings, y’all! I do believe it was fate.
TWO.
January is always a whirlwind for us, and while fun, I’m relieved that it’s over and we may get to catch our breath again finally. Jerry, Caleb, and I are all January birthdays within one week of each other, so it’s a month of celebrating. Now we have a two year old (Caleb), a big 30 (Jerry), and 28 (me). Last weekend, we went out for a family dinner at a barbecue place. The weekend before, we had a birthday party for Caleb at home. He didn’t really know what was going on and had no interest in opening gifts. He did, however, enjoy being sang “Happy Birthday” to, bowling with his new birthday gift, and running around with cousins.
THREE.
I renewed my blog hosting yesterday for three years and also had to renew my domain. Guess this means you’ll be stuck with me for at least three more years – ha! But in all seriousness, I don’t plan on leaving anytime soon, and if you’re looking to self-host, I’ve had great luck with Bluehost for the last six years! And holy crap, I just had to look that up and can’t believe I’ve been self-hosting for that long. Time flies!
FOUR.
I’m off work today since I worked last Saturday, so hallelujah! After only having a one day weekend last week, I am in desperate need of this three day weekend. I’ll be pretty busy but having fun. Tonight, I’ll be doing dinner with my mom and cousin Toni, then Toni and I will be heading to see a younger relative perform in Footloose. I have no real plans for Saturday except making chicken bacon ranch pizza casserole for dinner (a new to us recipe). Finally, on Sunday I’m attending a baby shower, then hosting a little Super Bowl gathering like we’ve done for the last couple of years. Nope, I don’t give a rat’s about football but an excuse to hang out with family and snack on some good food is always in order.
FIVE.
I’ve played around with the idea of doing some outfit posts, but I don’t think I’m confident enough yet to do that, and I’m not really sure if anyone else will like my style. However, I will share a couple of recent outfits because I know I’ve enjoyed seeing other people’s for inspiration. I never cared at all about style or clothes until last fall when I had a little revelation that I should dress better so that I could feel better. It’s been fun playing with clothes!

Okay, so excuse me looking like a massively uncomfortable dork (clearly, I am no fashion blogger), and excuse all the toys in the background (clearly, I have a toddler). Here are some more details about the outifts:
LEFT:
Top: A pink waffle top with lace detail on the shoulders. Got it at Walmart.com but can no longer find it.
Bottoms: Faded Glory Women’s Plus Ponte Skinny Pants in Gray. Got these from Walmart for $8.00. Liked them so much that I went and ordered a couple more pairs. Oops. They are stretchy and comfortable.
Scarf: Gray infinity scarf with gold dots. Found it on Amazon. It’s light and soft and I got a lot of compliments on it. I’d like to get more colors.
MIDDLE:
Lularoe TC leggings and a mustard Lularoe Perfect Tee (my favorite Lularoe product!).
RIGHT:
Top: No Boundaries Sueded Jersey Belted Tunic Top. Got this bad boy from Walmart and I like it. I will say, it’s a fitted style (more fitted than I’m used to), but it’s made of the same soft sueded material as Lularoe so the feel is very nice. I also like the belt that was included.
Cardigan: Got this duster from Walmart too but it’s no longer available. I wanted to throw something on over the tunic because of how fitted it was and this did the trick. Nice and warm… a great layering piece.
Bottoms: Lily Brand black leggings. These particular ones are my new favorites. You can find Lily products on Zulily. They aren’t “butter soft” like Lularoe, but I love the feel and fit. They pull on like pants (not like tights) and don’t give the saggy crotch effect you can get with super spandexy leggings… yuck. I have them in three colors and want to get more. Two thumbs up!
That’s five for now — see you in the next chapter.
