📝 My Review

LOVED! Truly. You know how some books you kind of slog through the beginning, only to be rewarded for your efforts later on? Yeah… this was NOT one of those books… it was better! I loved it from the moment I opened it up. I got sucked into the story from page one and knew I would be in for a treat.

Abbey Lahey is an overworked and underappreciated mother, wife, and publicist. Exasperated just might the perfect way to describe her. After heading to Nordstrom one afternoon to return an expensive purse that caused a fight with her husband, Jimmy, she stumbles down the escalator. When she wakes up from her injury, she’s in a different life as Abbey van Holt, the woman she WOULD have been if she’d have said yes to Alex van Holt when he asked her out on a date many years ago. Suddenly, she’s wealthy and living a lifestyle she could have only ever dreamed of before. This is the story of the road not taken and of course, the one that got away.

This book was so fun! I love stories with switcheroos and stories that examine what might have been. Abbey is still Abbey, but seems to have woken up in an alternate universe and gets to see firsthand how the other half lives with nannies, lavish parties, and more. She sees the way things might have turned out if only she had said yes to the handsome and rich Alex van Holt before she met and married Jimmy. The switch causes her to really examine her life, her choices, and what and who she wants to be going forward.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story and think it’s absolutely perfect for a summer read. If you’re a fan of movies like 13 Going on 30, which is one of my personal favorites, I’m certain you’ll love this one too. I can’t wait to see what Leigh Himes comes up with next!
