End of Summer To-do List

Summer is quickly coming to an end, and I’m pretty excited. Summer is fine, but I don’t like heat, and more importantly, I’ve been waiting for fall and Halloween all year. It’s almost time! Yay! I know that fall isn’t technically until late September, but I honestly consider September 1st to be the start of my favorite season, and now it’s almost here! I was actually putting up a couple of Halloween decorations over the weekends, and the kids said “it’s not Halloween yet!” My response was that it’s close enough. Ha! Anyway, there are a few things I’d like to get done before the summer ends and the fall begins. Here’s my little to do list for the next few weeks.

Clean the bedrooms: I finished a huge project over the weekend, which was to clean out the dining room. It looks so good and totally re-energized me to do more cleaning and organizing. Next up will be to clean all three bedrooms. They’re honestly all a bit of a mess. It’s so hard to keep up on this kind of thing with working full time.

Sort kid’s clothes: to go along with the first goal, I’ll also need to sort out the kid’s clothes. Pack away summer stuff, see what they have already for fall, and make a list of what they might still need.

Pack up summer clothes: in addition to packing up the kid’s summer clothes, I need to pack up mine! I never wore shorts before, so I never really had summer clothes to pack up. Now I do! That’s a HUGE change for me, wearing shorts. I still feel self-conscious about my legs, but it’s a bit better since I had my surgery.

Kitchen cleanup: lots to do here. Deep clean the fridge (I usually run all of the shelves through the dishwasher). Clean out the microwave. Go through the cupboards and clean those out. And on and on. Kitchens always tend to accumulate a lot of mess. Always lots to do in there!

Organize PZ stuff: while I was cleaning out the dining room, I also moved the majority of my Pink Zebra stuff downstairs, which was a great move (it was all in the dining room). Now I just need to figure out how to organize and store it all better. I may need some more shelves. We’ll see.

Make fall bucket list: I usually like to make a bucket list / goal list of all the places I’d like us to go to and all the things I’d like us to do in the fall. This usually consists of lots of trips to farms to get fry cakes and pumpkins, and a spooky hayride that Caleb loves.

Decorate: as mentioned above, I’ve already started to slowly decorate for fall and Halloween, but I have a long ways to go still.
