I am 20 weeks and 1 day! That means that yesterday, we were officially HALFWAY THERE OMG! My post is a day late this week because yesterday was BUSY! We had our anatomical/gender scan before going in to work. Usually, I give a size estimate for the baby. This week, the baby should be about 9 ounces or so, but we actually found out yesterday that our little chunker is 12 ounces! The tech did say it was average though, so not to worry! Baby is approximately the size of a banana, and about 6.5 inches from head to butt, or 10 inches from head to foot!

So yes, we had our scan yesterday and the tech had NO concerns! It was about 25 minutes or so and we got to see all the little body parts, the heart, the spine, etc. The baby was moving A LOT and the tech exclaimed that we have a “busy one.” We told her we have no idea where that comes from because we are NOT busy people. She thought that was pretty hilarious! Baby was sucking its thumb (see below), opening and closing its mouth, and even crossing its little legs at the ankles… stinker! It took her a few tries to finally see the gender and she even pushed my belly to try to get those little legs uncrossed. We are not telling anyone yet though. We are having a very few people over on Saturday to reveal it via balloons, where we will have my dad (a photographer) take some pictures so we can finally tell everyone else too. For now, it’s just mine and Jerry’s little secret.
So that was our big excitement for the week! We are so happy to finally know. We can start buying more clothes and decorating the nursery at long last! As a matter of fact, we went right to Walmart afterwards to pick out an outfit and look at some other things. I’ve also started searching online for nursery bedding… still trying to decide on our theme though.
Other than that, I’ve had some continued back pain. It was very severe over the three day holiday weekend, so I was very grateful to have three days off. I finally caved and ordered a Leachco body pillow from Buy Buy Baby, and now I’m just waiting for it to arrive since it wasn’t in stock and they’re shipping me one. The dang thing is originally $80(!) but I had a coupon and a gift card and was able to get it for $39 plus tax, otherwise it would have been a definite no go! I got this one since I switch sides all the time while sleeping and wanted one that I wouldn’t have to turn with me since it has both sides covered. My mom also got me a maternity support belt which I will be wearing to work. I wore it yesterday, and I have to say, my back isn’t hurting as severely today. It tends to be a little uncomfortable on, but it really seems to help the pain so that’s good!
Other very good news… remember how last week I wasn’t sure if what I was feeling were baby movements yet? Well, they definitely were. This little nugget is moving and grooving now and I feel movements a few times throughout the day. I feel it a lot at night when I lay down for bed… oh Lord, please tell me the baby rearranges its sleep schedule before being born. It’s a great feeling every time though!
Well, just a few more days and you will all know the gender too! Can’t wait for our big reveal!
