Thankful Thursday (15)

Today is my first Thankful Thursday post since August, right before I had the baby! I’m glad to be back and looking for all the little and big things in life to be thankful for. Here’s what I’ve been grateful for in the last week. As always, I’ll be linking up with the sweet Rebecca Jo.

Book club Christmas meetings

I run a Forever YA book club at work, and a personal book club too. Both of these book clubs had Christmas celebrations over the last week for our December meetings, and both were a lot of fun! For my work book club, we all brought a treat and just chatted since we didn’t all enjoy or read the December book. For my personal club, I hosted this month and we had a TON of food, like always. We also did our annual Secret Santa gift exchange, and received our yearly Christmas cookies from Christine. YUM!

An amazingly thoughtful gift

My dear friend Angela drew my name for this year’s book club Secret Santa. She saw me raving about these handmade mice I collect on Facebook, sneakily contacted the seller, and ordered one for me! I was in total shock and so excited! I have some of the most thoughtful friends out there.

Support during a migraine

I woke up in the middle of the night Sunday with an awful migraine… one of the worst I’ve had in awhile. Jerry reached over in bed and immediately started applying pressure on my head since he’s learned over the years that it’s something that provides me with relief. I didn’t even have to ask. Then, I was off Monday so my mom came over in the morning to take care of the kids so I could take a SECOND dose of my medication and go back to bed. My dad was also texting me throughout the day to check in on me. I’m grateful that my people understand my migraines and how they can help because some of them can be genuinely debilitating, like this one was.

A smooth first weekend back

I worked Saturday, and it was my first weekend shift since returning to work from maternity leave. My last weekend was in August! Some weekends are crazy and hectic, but we had no issues at all on this particular day. Yay! Let’s hope all weekends going forward run this smoothly. #keepdreaming

Santa dinner tradition

Jerry and I took the boys to a dinner with Santa at the Charbroil last weekend. Caleb has gone every single year since he was born, but Jerry has never gotten to go since he worked on nights for so long. This was his first year getting to go and we had a great time! The kids were well behaved, Caleb was genuinely excited to see Santa for the first year ever, and we even saw my cousin who was playing a reindeer!

Christmas and a four day weekend

I’m also excited for Christmas and seeing family, obviously! Lots of aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. will get to see Holden again, and we just always have fun together. I’m also excited for a four day weekend… duh. More jealous of Jerry and his two weeks off that he gets — PAID — every year though. Sigh.

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas! I’ll be back next week after the holiday with all of my yearly wrap-up posts. Hope to see you back here then!
