Five on Friday (49)

We’ve made it to Friday, everyone! It’s always tough working a full week after a four-day week, right? Oh well. Here’s what we’ve been up to lately.

ONE.

Easter was really nice! I got up before the kids and threw their baskets together. Holden just had a few things from the Dollar Tree because… baby. Caleb had a bit more, and his main gift was a bathtub fishing set. Jerry actually went and woke him up so he could see his basket. We went to my parents for our annual Easter Brunch and had our usual breakfast pizza. I also bought the kids cut-out cookies again this year. Saturday night, we had dinner at my parent’s so the kids could “plant” jelly beans outside. In the morning, they had “grown” into lollypops that my parents stuck in the ground in their place. When we pulled in the driveway, Caleb yelled “they growed!” After breakfast, they did an Easter egg hunt in the yard, played outside, and had some photos taken by my dad. All in all, a solid day.

TWO.

Y’all know by now that I see quite a lot of musicals because my aunt and I have season tickets to our local theater. Well, when they announced last year that Hamilton would be coming THIS year… I was not excited like everyone else. To be honest, I really didn’t think I was going to like it or understand all the hype. We went on Tuesday and I thought: “this will be boring. I never liked history class and I don’t enjoy hip hop.” Well, color me shocked that I absolutely fell in love with it. It was incredible! The whole thing was hilarious, sad, fun, and educational all wrapped up into one amazing show. The music was also so catchy that I’ve been listening to it nonstop since seeing it. I’m definitely planning on reading the Hamilton biography now, and am definitely interested in reading up on Washington, the Revolution, and our Founding Fathers too. I am 100% convinced now of the buzz and am for sure a Hamilton convert.

THREE.

It’s been a bit of a rough week for my kiddos. Both of them have awful coughs and colds AND Holden’s first tooth finally broke through on Monday. They’ve been a little crabbier than usual, but surprisingly, Holden is handling it pretty well. When Caleb was teething, he was miserable and nobody slept. Thank God Holden is sleeping like normal still. Fingers crossed it stays that way, and that these pesky colds go away and leave my boys alone soon!

FOUR.

I discovered this local(ish) cookie company (Stay Weird Cookies) on Instagram last week and promptly decided I needed to order some. It’s run by a young girl about my age who bakes out of a community kitchen once a week, then ships or delivers the cookies. What caught my eye is that her cookies are ginormous (five ounces each) and that you can make up any combination you can dream of and she will make it happen. Literally, any kind of mix in you want and a large variety of doughs to choose from. I ended up ordering chocolate dough with brownies, chocolate chips, and Oreos inside. Jerry ordered cookies and cream dough with Reese’s Cups, Biscoff cookies, and cookie butter inside. You get a batch of six of these huge cookies for $15 and then it’s a $5 delivery fee (she lives about 30-40 minutes away). I was super stoked that she baked these up on Tuesday and then I found them hand delivered in a box at my door that evening when I got home from work. She even throws in a couple of bonus cookies! I have already started plotting out my next order and have come up with quite a few interesting combinations to try. NO, this is not sponsored and she doesn’t know I’m writing this, but you guys know I have a wicked sweet tooth (“you don’t just have a sweet tooth!” said Jerry recently. “You have sweet TEETH!”) and I am pretty excited about these.

FIVE.

I am so ticked off at Facebook right now. Over the last few years, I’ve worked hard to grow my work’s Facebook page to 3,000 likes. Imagine my surprise on Monday when I open our page to see that it’s magically somehow dropped to 2,100 likes overnight. It hasn’t been this low since 2017! I immediately started to panic and contacted Facebook. The guy I spoke to was very understanding and kind, but had no explanation. He said that MAYBE they purged spam accounts but he didn’t know for sure and I find it hard to believe we had 900 spam accounts on our page. UGH. Anyway, I am very disappointed but… onward and back to re-building.

So that’s what’s going on in our world this week. We've got a busy weekend ahead. I work on Sunday for a few hours, but on Saturday I’m taking Caleb to a library program (at a different library, not mine #librarynerd) and I think that’s about it. I need some downtime. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
