I recently went to one of our Friends of the Library book sales! Our Friends group runs 3 big book sales a year and they also have a used book store in our lobby that’s open every day. They’re amazing and fund many of our programs. Anyway, on the last day of each sale, they have a bag sale where you can fill a bag for $3.00. You can bring any bag and they don’t care how big it is… they just want to get rid of as many books as possible so they have less to pack back up. I brought a huge bag and managed to get 47 books in there for only $3.00! Since that’s a crap ton of books, I’m breaking this down into several haul posts.
Today is post two from the Friends sale, with at least one more to come! You can check out my first post from this haul right here (all YA books that time). Today, I’m featuring some romance books and then a few other random adult fiction titles that I picked up.
Room for Just a Little Bit More by Beth Ehemann: this is book “2.5” of a series and is shorter… more of a novella. This story is about a woman who is recently engaged to a hockey star. She receives a letter from her estranged father, wanting to reconnect. She’s unsure of his motive and has to decide what to do. I haven’t read this series yet, but I’ve heard good things! Of course I will have to read the other two first. I am definitely a “completist” when it comes to series and I have to read them in order, even if can they stand alone!
About That Fling by Tawna Fenske: I’ve heard good things about this author so I’m looking forward to this one. Sounds like a forbidden romance kinda thing… girl likes a guy she shouldn’t (sounds like they work together!).
The Comfort of Favorite Things by Alison Kent: book number five in a series (lots of romances are series, huh?). This one is about a high school crush re-ignited years later.
It Had to be Fate by Tamra Baumann: this is the third in a series (sheesh!) This one is about a single mother who falls for a rock star!
The Sweetest Chase by Sharla Lovelace: this is the second in a series, and I have a few of this author’s books on my TBR list! This story is about a woman marrying a guy who is a good match for her, instead of the guy she REALLY wants to be with.
Mackeznie Fire by Elle Casey: this is number two in a couplet and both have been on my TBR list for awhile. You know I love all things Southern and just look at those cowboy boots on the cover! This is a country boy / city girl butting heads romance… sounds up my alley!
The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes by Diane Chamberlain: shame on me for having NEVER read Diane Chamberlain yet, despite hearing so many amazing things about her. I actually think I might already have a copy of this book somewhere but I’m not certain. This one sounds like a fascinating, dramatic read. A pregnant lady disappeared years ago. Her remains were found, but no one knows what happened to the baby… except for the lady who decided to raise her as her own. YIIIIKES. Right up my alley, for SURE!
The Shortest Way Home by Juliette Fay: sounds like a nice women’s fiction read about a man who goes back home and reconnects with a woman from his past.
The Bestseller by Olivia Goldsmith: this book is somewhat old (1996) but I figured I’d give it a shot! It’s about five authors and is set within a publishing house. I love book-ish books, so why not?!
Groundswell by Katie Lee: this sounds really interesting! It’s about a woman who marries a celebrity and is suddenly thrust into the spotlight… then she discovers his infidelity. I love drama, and I love Hollywood type stories!
The Answer is Always Yes by Monica Ferrell: this one has intrigued me for awhile and it sounds really different. It’s about an NYU freshman who was an outcast in high school and really wants to become cool. It’s supposed to be kind of a dark, literary read.
So what do you think? Anything here catch your eye?
