Get Sh*t Done: June 2019 Goals

Let’s just start out by saying that May was a dumpster fire of a month. It was so bad that I’m not even going to recap my goals because I only accomplished one (get the dog’s hair cut). I was sick with a cold and then an ear infection, so I bombed on everything. I only read three books and worked out 10 times, both of which are much smaller numbers than the goals I had set. Then Jerry’s car died so we took a big financial hit when we had to buy a new one unexpectedly. May... I ain’t sad to see you go!

Since I did horribly on my goals for both April and May, I think it’s time to slow them down for the summer. I usually have categories for different kinds of goals, and post anywhere from 10-15 goals a month, but I want to enjoy the summer and not be so hard on myself. I’m limiting things to just a few goals right now. Here they are for June.

June 2019 Goals

  • Read five books: May was a bad month, so I need to step it back up.
  • Work out 15 times: ditto the above. I need to work off my cookies and I was too sick for much of May to work out or read.
  • Read two chapters in either Hamilton or Game of Thrones: I bought both of these (instead of library copies) because they’re huge and will take awhile to read. GoT is for one of my book clubs and Hamilton is because I love the musical. I need to start at least one this month. Which should I start first?!
  • Watch Law and Order: The Menendez Murders: I have this out from the library and need to watch it. I think it’s only six episodes or so.
  • Watch at least two movies: Jerry and I love movies but haven’t been watching many lately! I’ve been watching my shows instead.
  • Go out for ice cream: hopefully it will be warm enough for us to take the boys for ice cream!
  • Post another From My Shelves blog: my yearly goal was to do four, and I’ve only done one so far. It was a lot of fun to do.
And that’s it! Not many goals, and mostly enjoyable ones at that! We’re still trying to catch up from the massive car expense and lawnmower repair from May, so I’m not setting any finance goals for the month either. That should resume in July.

One messy step at a time still moves you forward.
