Thankful Thursday (18)

Happy Thursday, everyone! This week is flying on by since it was a short work week, and I am so relieved for that. Here’s some of the things I’ve been thankful for lately. I am linking up with the amazing Rebecca Jo!

My dad

Today is my dad’s birthday, and tomorrow is actually my parent’s wedding anniversary! I am thankful for them every day, of course, but especially on special days like today.

New car

Jerry’s 2007 Jeep Liberty finally bit the dust last week and needed a new motor for over $3,500. We were panicked because we still owed money on it and were not prepared or interested in repairing for more than it was even worth. Luckily, we went to the salesman we’ve used for our last two cars on Saturday and found a great deal on a 2017 Jeep Renegade with only 14k miles! It’s practically brand new! We picked it up Tuesday night, and although it’s not a pick up like Jerry wanted (too expensive), he’s really happy with it. And I’m happy that we now have two reliable vehicles that shouldn’t have costly repairs every year like his old one did. Our payments are more, but we have peace of mind like we didn’t before.

Rides from family

While we were down a car for nearly a week, we got help from my parents and my sister-in-law with rides since Jerry and I were sharing my car. So thankful for a family who always has each other’s backs!

Finally healthy

I took my last dose of Amoxicillin this morning and FINALLY feel somewhat healthy for the first time in about a month. I’ve had the cold that wouldn’t go away and an ear infection that lasted over a week. So glad to be breathing, smelling, and tasting again! PHEW!

Holden sleeping in

Holden sleeps really well through the night but tends to be an early riser (usually between 6 and 7). The other day, he slept until past 8:00! That was refreshing and meant a slower morning for me.

The long weekend

Really grateful for the long weekend and the nice weather that accompanied it. I actually got to spend some time outside with the boys and Caleb loved it. He ran around on the grass and rode his motorcycle. We stayed at home a lot which is usually all I really want and had a cookout with the family on Monday. Also thankful for our fallen soldiers since that’s really what the holiday is all about.

Coconut macaroon bars

One of the best things about my hubby is that he’s amazing in the kitchen. Like, he could be a chef (for real). Anyway, he made coconut macaroon bars this weekend. They were from a Tastefully Simple kit but he enhanced them. He always comes up with his own recipes, or enhances others. They were DELICIOUS!

A puppy at work

We have therapy dogs who come in to the library to do our Paws to Read program, and one of the ladies got a new puppy who is in training. She brought him in last night and OMG, made my night. It was a crazy night at work and that just made it a little better. He’s a 10 week old chocolate lab and is the sweetest.
