Meet the Blog Hubby: Q&A With Jerry

Today I have a special treat for you all… an interview with my husband, Jerry! I know some of you have been reading the blog for many years and know all about me, my life, and my family, but don’t know a whole lot about the hubby. I thought it was time to change that! I came up with some fun and challenging questions (and even some about me because DUH) for him that I wanted to share today.

I’ll tell you a little about him and us before we start in with the questions. Jerry and I met in 2012 on MyFitnessPal, of all places. He lived all the way in California and I lived all the way here, in New York. We instantly connected and spent HOURS a day chatting, Skyping, and getting to know each other. Shortly after, he moved here. That’s our story in a nutshell, but you can read the “extended version” here if you feel so inclined.

Jerry works as a cleaner at a local college here and loves video games, horror, and good food. Horror was one of the first things we bonded over because we both absolutely love it, and he can tell you just about anything about any horror film. He’s an amazing cook, and actually does the bulk of the cooking in our household because he’s so good at it and creative in the kitchen. He’s 100% Mexican, so Mexican food is a specialty of his (which is good because I LOVE IT), but he cooks other food more often. He can pretty much whip up any dish we think of and is always flexin’ in the kitchen, y’all. He’s a very shy person who enjoys being home way more than being out, but loves to cite one liners from movies any chance he gets. He also enjoys fart jokes. Sigh. Those are some of the basics on my hubby, and now I will let him take it away!

My responses will be in gray.

What would be your dream vacation?
To Italy or Japan. I’d go anywhere actually. There’s so many great places in this world to see and food to taste.

What makes you most proud of yourself? Most proud of Steph?
I’m most proud of the family I was raised with and the family I’ve gained. I wouldn’t be the man I am today without them. I’m most proud of my wife Stephanie, too! She’s such an amazing mother to our lovely boys. She’s wonderful, smart and quite funny…. at times (haha). But she’s my rock. She keeps the house going and the boys love her as I do. I look forward to the many years seeing her love and cherish this family. Family is everything to her and it is to me.

What’s the most annoying thing that Steph does?
How much time you got buddy? LOL. I’m not gonna be too harsh, Steph. Just the constant questions, and hearing the phrases “why,” and “I don’t understand” a lot.
Oh yes, Jerry told me he was trying to be funny. HAHA, no. Before I married Jerry, my parents faced the brunt of the question asking while I was growing up. I’m known for it, and I even ask questions all throughout movies. Some say it’s annoying, I say it’s my inquisitive and curious nature and my love of learning.

What’s your favorite thing about Steph?
Her quirky humor and knowing and singing along to every country song on the radio LOL.

What would be your last meal if you had to choose?
This question is too darn hard. There’s way too much grub I like. I can’t believe I would have the hardest time with THIS question. I do love pizza but I love love a nice, juicy steak with caramelized onions and mushrooms on top. So yeah. Pizza with all the fixings and a steak. I’d also have to add peanut butter. This answer would change constantly too, trust me.

What would be your perfect date night?
Going to Papa Joe’s with Stephanie has always been perfect. I don’t see that ever changing. I do wish we had the whole place to ourselves though. It can be very noisy.
Yes, this is one of our favorite places to go! It’s an amazing and tiny local Italian restaurant (and not a chain… this is NOT Papa John’s LOL). Our wedding rehearsal dinner was here.

What has fatherhood been like?
It’s been quite extraordinary! Seeing them grow and learn things so fast boggles the mind at times. They have so much energy that I wish I had. Caleb is so smart but yet can be so mean LOL. He loves technology and loves to press buttons…. my own at times. Holden is so dang cute and so dang funny. The little things he does makes my heart swell. The boy can eat too! I know he gets that from me. I can see this kid growing up and eating tripe with me… oh yeah! I love fatherhood. I can’t wait to show my boys new things, take them to new places, and make new memories to talk about forever.

What are your three favorite things to do for fun?
I love video games. I have a lot of haters of this hobby but it’s what I always did growing up and I love it. I do love playing guitar. I have to pick it back up though. Life has been quite busy raising two boys and whatnot. Trying new drinks and food is also fun!

How does it feel being a blog husband? Knowing that your wife writes about you, your kids, and your life to her millions (okay, HUNDREDS) of readers?
I like it! Stephanie writes so well. I keep telling her she needs to write a book or something. She has this gift and it needs to be seen. She could go places with it. She’s just incredibly smart. And her sharing our family with the world is fine by me.

What are the best and worst things about marriage?
The best is knowing she will always be there when I need her. Worst thing is probably gonna be dying. Sad but true. I hope we are still married in the afterlife Steph LOL. For reals though. I love my marriage. It’s not perfect but whose is? Everyone fights. It’s life. At the end of the day we have each other and always will.

How did you know you wanted to marry Steph?
From her smile. It’s what I fell in love with.
Jerry has said this from day one!

List three words to describe Steph:
Funny, smart, beautiful.
Awww, shucks. 🙂

List three words to describe yourself:
Quiet. That’s all I got.
Me: there’s a lot more for you! How about determined? Gamer? Cook?
Jerry: okay, yeah.

List three words to describe Caleb:
Loud, grandma’s boy, mama’s boy LOL.

List three words to describe Holden:
Cute as a button, loves to eat, loves to jump.
A little more than three words there, but they’re all true, so we’ll take them!

…. and that’s all we’ve got! If you liked this post and want to see more like this in the future, please let me know! Leave some questions for Jerry in the comments and I’ll compile them and send them to him for a future post. If you hated this post, then uhhh… don’t leave questions and we won’t do more in the future. LOL.

Thanks for reading and getting to know the hubby behind the blog!
