Time to check in and reset. In this post, I’m looking back at how I did on my November 2019 goals — and setting some fresh ones for December 2019. Whether I crushed it or crawled through it, it all counts. Let’s keep going… one messy step at a time.
November 2019 Goals Recap
✅ Do another From My Shelves blog post: DONE! One more to do for the year. Do you guys like these? Should I keep doing them?
✅ Take down Thanksgiving decorations: DONE. This took a few days because I’ve been sick since Thanksgiving.
❌ Put up Christmas / winter decorations: I had big plans to do this all over Thanksgiving weekend, but as mentioned above, I’ve been sick. I have a few things up, but it’s nowhere near done. I do want to put up more, but I’ll definitely keep it simpler than usual because Holden is into everything and has been breaking stuff.
✅ Get the dog’s hair cut: DONE. He looks so much better.
❌ Book the lodge for Caleb’s birthday party: FAIL. I think we’re still going to book the lodge, but we haven’t yet.
❌ Read five books: FAIL. I was very close though, with four books finished in November!
❌ Read two Christmas books: FAIL. I finished one, but plan on reading several more in December.
❌ Work out 10 times: FAIL. I worked out six times. I fell off towards the end of the month because of being sick. I’ll get back on track though once I’m back to feeling better.
❌ Watch five Christmas movies: FAIL. I only got through two. I can’t really watch much when the kids are awake, and I go to bed very shortly after they do, so my TV watching is down right now.
❌ Clean out the freezer: FAIL.
✅ Total Completed: 3 of 9. Not good. I really got derailed by this ear infection, but November was still a good month in other ways.
December 2019 Goals
Lord help me, it’s the last month of the year which means I am scrambling to complete some of my yearly goals that are still possible. Let’s see what I’ve got for the month.
- Finish eight books: this will be a stretch, but I’m only eight away from my yearly goal of 50. For some reason, this goal is very important to me. My reading dropped severely since I had Caleb in 2015, and this is my highest reading year since then. Accomplishing this goal would give me a piece of myself back, if that makes sense.
- Read four Christmas books: I’m finishing a non-Christmas book right now for book club, but then I’m switching to all Christmas books until the big day.
- Clean out the freezer: rollover goal.
- Work out eight times
- Do my last From My Shelves blog post for the year
- Complete my 3 “end of year” wrap up posts: I do these at the end of every year. They’re a lot of work, but some of my favorites to look back on. I do life in review, books in review, and blog in review for the entire year.
- Set 2020 goals: I want to think long and hard about what I’d like to accomplish next year.
- More Christmas “baking”: my two standard Christmas goodies that I make every year don’t actually involve any baking, but anyway. I made cracker toffee for my cookie exchange last month, but need to make more. I also need to make my Oreo truffles that I love. I only make these things at Christmas time and they are both DELICIOUS.
And I think that’ll be it for the month! We’ve got a busy holiday season upon us, and I’ll be focusing most of my energy on that and my reading goal this month. Do you have any goals for the end of the year?
One messy step at a time still moves you forward.
