November was another busy and big month for us and for me. Lots of medical stuff, and even a race! Here’s what the month looked like:
- The first week of November was a big one because I was getting my LASIK eye surgery done that week. Eeek!
- On the first of the month, I had to quickly stop in the office to get a COVID test on my way to work, then I had to start antibiotic eye drops the day after that.
- A couple of days later – Thursday, November 4 – was the big day of my eye surgery. I won’t go into much detail because I linked above to a whole post about my experience, but in short: it was super easy and fast!
- The next day, I was off work again for appointments. I had to go to a one day follow-up with the LASIK doctor, and THEN my three month follow-up with my bariatric surgeon. Both went well and both doctors were happy with my progress.
- I had two more LASIK follow ups that month. One was a few days later, and one was about three weeks later. They’re very thorough, which I appreciate, but I was getting a little tired of going there. Ha.
- I had one four day weekend, thanks to Veterans Day, and an extra day off for working a Saturday.
- My dad and I took Caleb to his first big musical: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! I really enjoyed it, and Caleb liked it too for the most part. He got a little antsy and tired, but he did like it!
- I had a very brief phone appointment with my dietician. She’s very sweet and was basically happy with my diet and progress, though she does always encourage more veggies and fiber!
- Another first for Caleb: a race! Jerry, Caleb and I all ran (well, I walked mostly) in the annual Turkey Trot race on Thanksgiving morning! Caleb ran the entire 2.5 miles without stopping, and Jerry had to keep up with him while I stayed back because I’m not as fast. He had an AWESOME time! We all did! I love this Thanksgiving tradition. The first and only other time I ran it was back in 2012, and it was my first race ever. We’re planning on doing it every year now. My dad came to watch and take photos this year, and he had fun too, he said.
- For Thanksgiving dinner, we went to my parent’s house. It was nice, though my sister-in-law and two of my nephews couldn’t make it because they got sick. My brother and one of the boys came though, so that was good at least.
- As usual, I enjoyed a four day weekend for Thanksgiving.
- During that four day weekend, I went to a salon that offers one-on-one makeup lessons with the owner/makeup artist. I’ve only ever worn eyeliner and eyeshadow, but my once perfect skin is starting to break out now, and without my glasses, the bags and darkness under my eyes became very visible. I was feeling really self-conscious, but knew almost nothing about makeup and how I could fix this. My lesson was amazing! It took about 45 minutes, and she applied my makeup while describing what she was doing and watching in a mirror. She did an every day basic look for me and I really loved it. I bought most of the products she used so that I could (try to) recreate it at home. I learned so much and thought it was really an invaluable experience. It was a little expensive, but it was 100% worth it.
- My two besties plus our husbands had our monthly game night, which we just started doing in the fall. LOTS of fun! Taylor hosted this time, and her husband cooked a whole friendsgiving meal with an amazing pie made by Katie thrown in there too. We played Family Feud and a meme game. Fun as always!
