Time to check in and reset. In this post, I’m looking back at how I did on my December 2021 goals — and setting some fresh ones for January 2022. Whether I crushed it or crawled through it, it all counts. Let’s keep going… one messy step at a time.
December 2021 Goals Recap
✅ Lose 11 pounds: DONE! I lost 13.4 in December! Man, this used to be a month that I GAINED weight every year, but this time around, it’s been my highest losing month since surgery! I’m very proud of myself, to be honest.
✅ Schedule car inspection: DONE! Scheduled it in December, but my appointment is tomorrow.
❌ Go live in my PZ group once: FAIL.
✅ Schedule dog grooming: DONE! Scheduled it in December, but the appointment is this weekend.
✅ Bake pecan pie for Christmas: DONE!
❌ Watch 10 Hallmark movies: FAIL. I watched 0 in December. SO SAD!
✅ Blog a November Month in Review: DONE! Right here.
❌ Clean dining room: Sort of, but not marking it as done. My goal for my Christmas break from work was to clean the dining room. I did A TON of work in there and it’s looking better, but it’s not quite done yet.
✅ Practice my makeup: DONE! After my makeup lesson in November, I’ve actually done the whole makeup routine she taught me on many occasions! Basically, I do it any morning that I have time before work, or if I’m going somewhere on the weekends. It’s certainly not as good as the makeup artist did, but I’m getting better. I’ve also started watching tutorials so that I can branch out and try more looks.
✅ Practice curling my hair: DONE! I tried my hair waver again, and it wasn’t great. Buuut, I had my first haircut in over two years during my Christmas break, and the stylist curled my hair for me and walked me through it. She told me several techniques to try, since I typically can’t get curls to hold in my hair. After that, I lucked out and found some curling irons at Goodwill (I’d been planning on buying a full price one), so I’m going to give those a try next.
✅ Total Completed: 7 of 10. Go me!
January 2022 Goals
- Lose 11 pounds: going with the same goal from last month.
- Go live in my PZ group once: I haven’t gone live in a LONG TIME, so this is a rollover.
- Finish cleaning the dining room: I really want to finish this month. I’m so close!
- Practice curling hair with the curling iron: I’ve given up on the hair waver for now, so I need to play around with the curling iron instead.
- Do my nails: I usually use nail strips. I need to take off my current set and do a new one!
- Try a makeup look from Youtube: I’ve got several saved that I would like to try.
- Buy a strapless bra and clear straps: I have some off the shoulder things I would like to wear, but no appropriate bra to wear them with. LOL
- Read two books: last year was my worst reading year of all time. I need to get back on track this year.
- Get rid of 10 pieces of clothing: So I’m currently down 90 pounds from when my journey started last February, and have obviously started to get rid of tons of too-big clothes. I’ve given away two huge stacks so far on my local Buy Nothing group. I need to go through my clothes and clear out at least 10 more pieces this month!
- Clean Holden’s room: both of the boy’s rooms are disasters, no matter how many times I clean them and tell them to do it. Going to start with Holden’s this month because it’s not as bad as Caleb’s.
- Finish season two of Grey’s Anatomy: currently watching on Netflix! I saw the first few seasons years ago, but decided to start over last month.
- Blog my 2021 Year in Review
And that’s it for now! January is pretty hectic usually because Jerry, Caleb, and I all have birthdays this month, and all within the same week. Time to celebrate!
One messy step at a time still moves you forward.
