Month in Review: August 2025

🗓️ August 2025 in Review

August was full of big changes and everyday chaos: a new domain name, a new car(!), endless migraines, and plenty of family moments. Fall crept into the air, school prep began, and I finally hit “publish” on my blog under its new name.

📚 Books I Read

Another slow reading month with a total of three books and no real stand-outs.

  • The Atonement by Kiersten Modglin
  • Missing in Flight by Audrey J. Cole
  • Lovesick by Jon Athan
🏅 Favorite Book of the Month:
Missing in Flight by Audrey J. Cole
📚 Books Read: 3
📈 Yearly Progress: 42/100

🎬 What I Watched

🎥 Movie:

  • Weapons: a solo movie date, and I really enjoyed it!
  • KPop Demon Hunters with Holden

📺 TV:

  • Full House, Season 1 (episodes 8 & 9)
  • A Body in the Snow: The Trial of Karen Read (episode 1)

📌 Happenings & Tidbits

  • Bought my new domain name on August 1 and spent days wrangling the setup before it finally went live mid-month. Officially relaunched my blog on August 20.
  • School drama: the district tried to change the boys’ schools, but after several days, calls, and emails, I sorted it all out. Huge sigh of relief.
  • Multiple migraines (11 total) — some knocked me out, but meds usually worked.
  • Went to a breastfeeding event in Corning (about 90 minutes away) for work and stopped at a diner for lunch with my coworker.
  • A (very hot) work picnic that I got to take the kids to.
  • I went to an early morning showing of Weapons by myself, followed by Mexican takeout for lunch.
  • Car drama: noises, frustration, lots of online searching → test drove both a 2022 Trailblazer and a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee → finally bought the Trailblazer on August 26 and picked it up the 28th. The kids were thrilled to explore it and take turns in the front seat for trips around the block.

💖 What I Loved

  • Crumbl’s Dubai Chocolate Brownie cookie (worth multiple trips AND all the buzz).
  • The first chilly, fall-like day.
  • Finally driving home in a new Trailblazer after a week of stress.

🙃 What I Hated (a.k.a. Things That Sucked)

  • Car repairs, noises, and dealership negotiations before the Trailblazer.
  • Eleven migraines — exhausting.
  • The stress of domain/tech setup before the blog relaunch.

👦 Boy Mom Moments

  • Holden’s new “Italian Brainrot” backpack arrival (and his temporary excitement about school).
  • Bike ride chaos when Holden’s tire fell off.
  • Caleb lost a tooth!
  • Trouble games, Get Air trampoline park, Happy Meal nights, and sneaking Halloween cookies before September even started.
  • Lots of time outside riding their Shuffle Carts all over the driveway.

🍔 What I Ate (Besides My Feelings)

  • Chip taste test (Brazilian BBQ won).
  • McDonald’s warm cookies.
  • Zarpentine’s apple fritters, pie bites, and cookies (they opened for the season at the beginning of the month!).
  • Crumbl runs (Dubai Chocolate Brownie obsession).
  • Amish bakery treats.
  • Pizza overload: fried dough night, Pizza Hut $2 deal, Perris gigantic slices.
  • Crookies (twice).
  • Donut ice cream sundae from The Creamery.
  • Mexican takeout lunch.
  • One night we walked up to Taco Bell for dinner and Staples for school supplies.
🥤 McDonald’s Diet Cokes Consumed: 32

💸 Money Check-In

  • Finances took an unexpected hit at the end of the month when I had to buy a car, but I did pay down some debt before that happened.
⬇️ Debt Decreased:
$478

📝 This Month on the Blog

⏭️ Coming Up in September 2025

  • Holden’s birthday 🎉
  • Back-to-school chaos
  • Two doctor’s appointments (general checkup + neurologist for the migraines)
  • Fall festivals and cozy evenings ahead

💡 What I Learned

Patience is not optional when you’re juggling kids, car drama, tech headaches, and your own health. But August proved that persistence pays off — the domain worked, the car deal came through, and life moves forward, one migraine, one McDonald’s Diet Coke, and one blog post at a time.

So that’s it for me! See you next month!
