ONE.
Mother’s Day was nice with one minor hiccup. We hosted brunch at our house and had my parents, brother, and nephews over. Caleb was kind of crabby, but we wore our matching bear shirts and played outside. I also got some nice gifts from Jerry: the DVD of Once, a new horror Funko Pop for my collection, and a new primitive canvas to hang. Dinner, however, was quite bad. I chose a new-ish local restaurant I’ve always liked but that has garnered a reputation for bad service/business. This was the first time I’ve had a bad experience but have heard horror stories from friends and will probably not go back now. The owner is rude and argumentative and acted so while we were there, and they were out of TONS of things, including several flavors of soda. Really? Running out of beverages?! They were also out of lids for the kids cup so Caleb spilled OJ everywhere. Ah, well. At least we went for ice cream after?
TWO.
I’ve decided that I really need to start losing weight again. Real talk: I always gain a lot of weight whenever I’m on anti-depressants and I’ve been back on one since last summer. So, I was always overweight in high school but not obese. Then in college, I got on medication and gained 100 pounds. Eek! Then you know the story: I got off the meds, lost 118 pounds, got pregnant and gained a lot back, started to lose the pregnancy weight, and then started to gain again over the last few months. Well, I’ve started cleaning up my eating a bit this week and have already seen some progress on the scale, so I’ve just got to keep the momentum going.
THREE.
Caleb and I got haircuts together last week. He’s had a few, but this is the first time that he actually loved it. He was laughing and smiling at himself in the mirror and it was adorable. As for me, I usually get sick of my hair and chop it all off a couple of times a year. No regrets!
FOUR.
Caleb is going through a horrible sleep regression. Out of nowhere, he now hates his bedroom and his crib. He screams in terror and cries and points at my bedroom until I relent. The past few nights, I’ve been letting him fall asleep in my room and then moving him to his crib. I’m trying out his light up animal pillow to see if that helps. I’m not sure if he’s scared of something or if it’s a behavioral thing or what… but we’re all tired over here. Send help… but not coffee. I don’t drink it.
FIVE.
I’m off work today because I worked last weekend. Y’all, is there anything better than a three day weekend? I think not (except for maybe a four day weekend). I am going to Comic Con for a few hours on Sunday for work, but I volunteered for that because it sounded fun. We’re having a table to show off some of our library services, and wearing these awesome custom made shirts. I kind of love them. Also, tonight is girls dinner with my besties and moms so that’s always fun!
That’s five for now — see you in the next chapter.
