Baby #2 Bumpdate: 17 Weeks

Symptoms: Some mild heartburn a couple of times, and some back pain a couple of times too. I’m also back to getting up anywhere from 1-3 times a night to use the bathroom. All in all though, I feel pretty good!

Sleep: Not awful, but I’m not a fan of the getting up to use the restroom again!

Diet/Cravings: No major cravings this week! I’ve definitely been on that salty kick though this whole pregnancy, so the old wives tale of “salty food = a boy” is true for me.

Exercise: I went to the gym twice this week: Tuesday after work and Wednesday morning before work. I did 35 minutes each day: once on the elliptical and once on the treadmill. Twice doesn’t seem like a lot but this week was NUTS for me. I had plans EVERY SINGLE DAY, so finding any time at all was an accomplishment. I should manage 3-4 days next week, though. Things aren’t as crazy.

Good Moments:

  • I think I felt my first flutter on Wednesday night! After that, I felt a few more flutters throughout the week. They were by no means strong, but they were a little something. Of course jiggling the belly to prompt more movements did absolutely nothing. Baby does what baby wants when baby wants.
  • My best friend who is due three weeks ahead of me had her gender reveal party on Saturday night and it was so much fun and SO exciting. I have been convinced for YEARS that she would have girls, so imagine my shock and delight when I discovered that she is having a BABY BOY! We texted all week and she kept messing with my mind! Though I was 100% sure it was a girl, I changed my mind the night before, after we got together for a movie. My whole family showed up wearing blue and we were right! WOOHOO! Even though I initially thought girl, I secretly hoped for a boy because come on now… our sons are going to be SO CLOSE in age that they’re destined to be best friends, am I right? I can’t wait. I am just over the moon about this. She is one lucky mama to be loved by a boy.
  • So remember my Athelete’s Foot dilemma? My feet have been itchy and scaly for years and I just assumed I had dry feet and had to live with it. After doing some research on an itchy, sleepless night a few weeks back, I figured out it was most likely Athlete’s Foot. I called my doctor’s office who gave me the go ahead to start using some anti-fungal cream. After just one night, I felt relief! I’ve been using it for a few days now and my feet are already softer and much less itchy. I am so relieved.

Bad Moments: I had some bad back pain at work on Friday that had me so uncomfortable. It’s definitely better right now though.

Looking Forward To:

  • Feeling bigger and more definite movements from this little guy!
  • Launching part one of my Boy Mom series this week!

Comparisons: Here is my 17 week bumpdate with Caleb. Ironically, it looks like I started feeling some back pain then, too!
