Get Sh*t Done: April 2018 Goals

Time to check in and reset. In this post, I’m looking back at how I did on my March 2018 goals — and setting some fresh ones for April 2018. Whether I crushed it or crawled through it, it all counts. Let’s keep going… one messy step at a time.

March 2018 Recap

personal goals

❌ Read through and discard five magazines: FAIL. I read through half of one. Oops.
Finish three books: FAIL. I finished one (Genuine Fraud by E. Lockhart) and am halfway through two others.
Go to the gym eight times: DONE! I went exactly eight times. It would have been higher, but I missed a week due to sickness. I went on: 3/7, 3/9, 3/10, 3/13, 3/14, 3/16, 3/27, 3/30,
Go on two dates nights: FAIL! We only went on one, but it was fun! We went to dinner at Thai Mii Up and then went and saw The Strangers (3/10).
Watch two movies at home with hubby: DONE! We watched The Ritual (a Netflix original horror film that was just okay), and 47 Meters Down (pretty good! Engaging and kept our attention).
See three movies in theater: DONE! I crushed this goal with eight movies
  • Annihilation: awesome! Amazing visuals and a unique and frightening story.
  • Every Day: sweet and unique love story.
  • The Strangers: Prey at Night: good sequel, but not as good as the first which I consider a modern classic.
  • Thoroughbreds: disappointing and strange.
  • Red Sparrow: really good! Better than I expected, though a bit long.
  • Love Simon: so sweet! Beautiful story about being who you are.
  • I Can Only Imagine: beautiful, inspiring, touching, heartbreaking.
  • Midnight Sun: good but sad.

Financial Goals

Increase savings account by $75: DONE! Crushed this goal. We increased it by $170 this month!
Don’t use the credit card: DONE! So excited to be getting our finances in good shape once again.
✅ Don’t buy any new vendor wax: DONE! Saved myself a ton of money by not buying new wax this month.

Household Goals

Swiffer the kitchen twice a week: DONE! I aim for Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and then Jerry does a full mop over the weekend. Seems excessive, but it’s the price you pay for having a mill dog who tinkles on the floor.
Clean the bathroom sink every Sunday: DONE! Quick and easy.
Do four loads of laundry every weekend: FAIL! I ended up doing an average of three loads a weekend. Sigh. Weekends are crazy, especially since I work every other weekend right now.
Cook two Sundays: DONE! On 3/4, I made a chicken and biscuit casserole, and on 3/18, I made chicken and dumplings in the Crockpot… this particular recipe was no good. I’ve made better chicken and dumplings before.
❌ Put away all the laundry in our room: FAIL I actually made a lot of progress, but I still have a little ways to go.
Get the dogs groomed: DONE! Dakota got his hair done and Ruffles got her nails trimmed. No more homeless dogs!
Get Caleb's hair cut: DONE!
✅ Total Completed: 11 of 16. Good month for me!

April 2018 Goals

personal goals

  • Transfer all remaining videos from my phone to my hard drive: I have 100+, but I want them in a secure place that isn’t my phone, I need more room on my phone, AND I have plans to get a new phone soon (mine is nearly three years old which is ancient in iPhone land).
  • See six movies in theater
  • Go to the gym at least nine times

financial goals

  • Complete a successful “no spend” month: This means not buying anything unnecessary! No wax and no Halloween village pieces… my two weaknesses lately!
  • Increase savings by $200
  • Don’t use the credit card
  • Pay at least $500 on our loan and credit card: We’re working on paying off our personal loan and credit card. Between the two, we usually pay around $300 a month. I’d like to step it up this month with our “no spend.”

household goals

  • Sort through tupperware again: match up the pieces and discard loners.
  • Drop off boxes to Goodwill: I currently have three boxes ready to go.
  • Find ten books to donate or get rid of: my quest to declutter continues.
  • Finally finish putting all the laundry away!
⭐ Priority Goal: I'd like to keep the momentum going with our savings, so I'd say the savings goal is number one right now.

One messy step at a time still moves you forward.
