Get Sh*t Done: May 2019 Goals

I’ve been doing really well with my goals so far this year, but this month… I kind of crashed and burned a bit. See below for the shame!

April 2019 Goals Recap

Personal Goals

Read five books: DONE! Yes! My reading roll continues. I’m thrilled with how much I’m reading this year. It seems that I’M BACK, BABY! (In terms of reading, anyway).
Get the dog’s hair cut: Fail. Didn’t happen. Didn’t have time, energy, money, etc.
Transfer 50 videos from old cell phone to hard drive: Fail. Didn’t even attempt it.
Watch The Good Doctor, season one: Fail. I’ve been watching a lot of American Idol, America Says, and back seasons of 90 Day Fiancé.

Health Goals

Work out 17 times: DONE! I beat this goal with 18 work outs in April.
Lose three pounds: Not quite, but that’s okay. Slow and steady is my goal with weight loss this go round, and perhaps this goal was too lofty.

Financial Goals

❌ Increase Caleb’s savings by $25: Fail. Didn’t think about it this month.
Increase regular savings by $50: Fail. Okay, so technically, I put $60 away at the beginning of the month, but then I took a lot more out to help pay down some debt.
No credit cards: Fail. I totally forgot about this and used my card a little bit. BAD!

Household Goals

❌ Sort through mess of clothes in bedroom: Fail. Our bedroom remains a mess. Sigh.
✅ Goodwill dropoff: DONE! Dropped off two big bags and a large box. Nice to get that out of the garage, and I’ve already started up my next donation box.
Sort through nine month clothes: Fail. Holden’s clothes situation still is kind of chaotic, but he’s dressed every day, so it’s all good!

Other Notable Accomplishments

  • Culled about eight pieces of clothing from my wardrobe.
  • Took the kids to see the Easter bunny. Also had a mommy and Caleb morning where we went to another library for parachute play and a STEM program.
  • Continued potty training with Caleb. Cleaned a lot of poop.
  • Started taking daily Vitamin C at the recommendation of my doctor… she wants me to build up my immune system since I have high stress levels / lack of sleep.
  • Made $50 doing a 40 minute clinical trial for migraines (more on this next week).
✅ Total Completed: 3 of 12. As I said, not a good month. For some reason, I was super tired all month and also in a depressive slump towards the end of the month. I think it stemmed from lack of sleep, stress, exhaustion, etc. I also dealt with quite a few migraines and headaches. That said, I didn’t accomplish many goals this month, but I did manage to knock out a few. Hopefully May will be better!

May 2019 Goals

Rollover Goals

  • Get the dog’s hair cut
  • Transfer 50 videos from old cell phone to hard drive
  • Sort through mess of clothes in our bedroom

Personal Goals

  • Read six books: time to step it up a notch!

Health Goals

  • Work out 18 times: stepping this goal up a bit too!
Note: I am not going to set a weight loss goal number right now. I’ve been putting a lot of pressure on myself and it’s adding to my stress and exhaustion. I am simply going to work out and know that I’m doing the best I can!

Financial Goals

  • No credit cards
  • Increase Caleb’s savings by $50

Household Goals

  • Clean the refrigerator: throw out old stuff, wipe down, run the shelves through the dishwasher.
  • Clean the freezer: throw out old stuff and organize.
  • Sort and replenish tupperware: I sort through and match up tupperware several times a year. How do the lids always go missing?! I will also need to replenish a bit because we’re running low.
I cut back on the goals a bit this month because my stress levels have been crazy high lately. Hopefully cutting back a bit will mean I can accomplish more of them.

One messy step at a time still moves you forward.
