Five on Friday (51)

Happy Friday, everyone! It’s been a really crappy week, so I am super excited that it’s almost the weekend, and a three day one at that! Jerry and I are both off for Memorial Day on Monday and I am so relieved about it. Here’s what’s going on in our world lately.

ONE.

I think I might have mentioned it, but the boys have both had colds, and I finally caught it a couple of weeks ago. It’s still going strong, but it ALSO caused me an ear infection. I woke up last Saturday in the middle of the night and my ear was throbbing. I went to the doctor on Monday and now I’m on Amoxicillin twice a day for 10 days. Honestly, the ear isn’t even what’s bothering me the most… it’s the other things it’s causing, like throbbing migraines all over my head, dizziness, and neck pain. It’s been a rough and miserable week, I won’t lie. I’ve felt like crap, can’t taste anything, can’t smell anything, and my head is so uncomfortable that I’ve been popping medication like crazy.

TWO.

Tuesday, Caleb had a field trip to a local farm. I had already made arrangements to have the day off work, but a nice surprise was that Jerry also got to come. His car is out of commission (more on that below), so he took a vacation day off work. Caleb got to use a real stethoscope (he’s obsessed with his toy ones) to listen to a bunny’s heart and got to hold a 4 day old baby chick. We also got to see the robotic milking center which is unreal, then we went into the petting zoo where there were goats and sheep. All in all, it was fun, adorable, and informative. Glad we got to go as a family (minus Holden… he was with my mom).

THREE.

In addition to being sick, it’s also been a stressful and expensive week in other ways. We had to send our riding lawn mower off for (expensive) repairs, AND Jerry’s car has sh*t the bed unexpectedly. We are now in a pinch to try and find a new one, while still having a small balance due on that one. Aaaand we’ve been sharing my car all week. NOT FUN! However, it’ll be a relief for him to have a nicer car that isn’t breaking down twice a year and the constant scramble to find money for those repairs. We’re going tomorrow to meet with a car salesman we’ve used in the past and liked. Wish us luck!

FOUR.

I feel like I haven’t mentioned Holden much yet. He has two bottom teeth now, and it’s the cutest. He is such a happy baby and he smiles all the time. When he’s tired, it’s a different story altogether… but in general, he has the best little disposition. He had a rough night once this week though. He woke us all up screaming at 4 am. When I went into his room, he had rolled onto his stomach and then managed to get his arm stuck in the crib slats. Poor bug! He also is the biggest thumbsucker on the planet. He won’t even take a binky, which Caleb was addicted to. This baby always has his thumb in his mouth and it kind of melts my heart.

FIVE.

Caleb and I took a drive out to the country last weekend to visit one of my favorite little shops called Filomena’s. It’s a little craft, primitive, antique co-op place. I picked up some handmade decor, but the main reason we went was to pick up this awesome little vintage diner set for Caleb. Isn’t it the cutest thing ever?! He’s my little shopping buddy. “I love everything!” he said, while we were walking around the store.

So that’s what I’ve got this week! Pretty crappy week which means I’m also doing pretty crappy on my goals again this month, but life happens, ya know?

Our only plans for the long weekend are to meet with the car salesman on Saturday, and have dinner at my parent’s on Monday for the holiday. I’m hoping to recuperate and relax at home the rest  of the weekend.
