Whew! So… August was… A MONTH, to say the least. I had surgery, struggled a bit with recovery, ended up in the ER, finally went back to work after a littler over two weeks, and now here we are: September!
September, October, and November, what I consider to be fall, is the best time of the year! I’m looking forward to enjoying the season and hopefully getting back into the swing of things blogging, now that I’m starting to feel pretty good post-surgery. Leading up to surgery was a stressful and busy time, so blogging took a bit of a backseat for me for a lot of the summer, but I have certainly missed it. While my blog has stayed active with a number of guest and sponsored posts, with a few from me mixed in, I definitely want to get back into more regular posting again, and especially more of my creative writing. I’ve had such horrible writer’s block lately though. Anyone else?
Anyway, now that life is SORT OF getting back to normal post-surgery, I figured I could start to set a few small goals again. I still need to take it a bit easy while I heal, but I am starting to feel pretty decent, so yay!
September 2021 Goals
- Lose 10 pounds: I am determined to someday soon-ish return to my pre-pregnancy weight. Yes, this is a big number for one month, but I tend to do things in an extreme way because that’s just how I am.
- Go for 10 walks: my surgeon told me I could start doing light exercise once my breathing trouble got under control, and I feel like my breathing has gotten a lot better. (I had a diminished lung, probably from anesthesia.)
- Increase savings account by $100: we’ve been able to save quite a bit lately, so while I wanted to make this higher, we might be getting a dead tree taken down this month, which would require dipping into the savings. Always some kind of expensive thing that needs to be done. We’ll see what happens! It’s getting done soon, we just don’t know exactly when the guy is coming yet.
- Organize the tupperware: this is a recurrent goal and problem! UGH! I organize the containers with the lids several times a year, and they never stay together. I am doing a lot of meal prep now though, and it’s driving me nuts because the tupperware cupboard is a damn disaster! There’s a whole lot of other things that need to be done in the kitchen too, like organizing the pots and pans AGAIN, seeing what’s wrong with the microwave (probably need to replace it because it’s making a weird noise), and cleaning out the freezer. I think this stuff will wait for next month’s goals list though. Too much!
- Finish book club book before the meeting: my virtual mystery book club for work has resumed after a summer break. This month we’re reading The Wrong Family by Tarryn Fisher. I sometimes struggle to finish the book on time for the meeting… oops! My reading has been so awful this year. Between my Pink Zebra business, my surgery, craziness at work, and craziness in general, this has just not been my reading year… AT ALL!
- Go live in my Pink Zebra group: I used to go live all the time in my Facebook group but I haven’t done it in probably two months. The couple of months leading up to surgery was so hectic, and then the recovery time after surgery was so nuts, that I haven’t done it in forever. I need to get back into the habit!
One messy step at a time still moves you forward.
