Short Girl Problems

I come from a somewhat tall family. My father and his brother are both over 6 feet tall. My mother is on the higher end of the 5 foot region… but here I am, a whopping 5’3. Typically, I don’t mind being short, but there a few areas in my life where it causes small (but annoying) issues. Here they are.

Pants are too long

Every single pair of pants I own is way too damn long. The worst part about this is that they drag on the ground, and then get ripped and scuffed at the bottom. Petite sizes tend to be a smidge too short for me, so I have to go with regular length, which is way too long.

Maxi dresses are a definite no go

Maxi dresses are such a cute style that tend to go down to the wearer’s feet. But on me? A short girl? They extend way past my feet and just trip me up. They are a safety hazard for the short bunch!

Other bottoms are also too long

Capris and knee length pants tend to look like regular pants on me that are just too short, and I look ridiculous. Same thing goes for any skirt. Wherever they’re supposed to fall on your body, they go an extra 6 inches or so on me, and tend to look sloppy and dumb.

I need help to reach

If things are up on a high shelf, I either need to ask for help, stand on my tippy toes, or get my step stool. For someone like me who is stubborn and doesn’t like to ask for help, this is an annoyance.

My view gets blocked

When my aunt and I go see our musicals, just forget it if someone tall sits in front of me. I have to bob and move my head around the entire time to catch a view. Same thing goes for movies, concerts, and baseball games. Tall people… stay back! Puh-lease!

I need more height for my weight!

Okay, this one is KIND of a joke, but yeah, I’m short and so my fat all gets compressed. HAHA! Just think, if I were a good 6 inches taller, it’d be spread out more, my BMI would be lower, and I would STILL be fat, but I’d be LESS fat. Sigh. If only I hadn’t stopped growing taller in middle school…
