Another weekend, another Monday! It went by too fast, but all in all was a good one. It’d been a little while since my last weekend recap, so I decided it was high time for another one! I even took notes on my phone all weekend so I’d remember it all this morning. Good decision, self!
Friday, I worked until 5, as usual. I didn’t do much after work. Wrangled the kids, watched a little Teen Mom (yay for trashy reality TV… my favorite!).
Saturday morning was little busier than usual. Jerry was at his work buddy’s house helping him get ready to move, so it was just me and the kids. I got them ready, then we went out for a couple of morning errands. First stop: McDonalds for my usual Diet Coke, then we headed to pick up some handmade little Halloween bottles I found on Facebook Marketplace from a local woman. After that, we headed to a flea market about 20 minutes away. An antique co-op was hosting this outdoor flea market, and my parents had a tent of antiques they were selling. My mom wanted me to bring her a book (she was bored!), and I wanted to look around a bit. I walked away with a vintage $5 metal cabinet from a neighboring tent that I plan to put my wax in. It was a great deal, and it was old and rusty, just how I like! Caleb got a hot dog for lunch and we hung around the tent for a bit before heading home.
We got home around 12:15 followed shortly after by Jerry. I threw in some laundry, had a quick lunch, then Holden and I took naps. After we got up, it was nearly dinner time. Jerry cooked up some prime rib that he’d been marinating since the night before in his new cast iron skillet. I don’t eat a lot of beef because it tends to give me a stomach ache, but it was so worth it. It was absolutely delicious and so flavorful!
After putting the kids to bed, we started watching a 4.5 hour documentary about 80s horror called In Search of Darkness. We had the lights off, candles lit, and fuzzy blankets… I was getting early fall vibes, which I am all about! We got through the first 90 minutes, but still need to finish it. If you’re a fan of horror, it’s really interesting and I definitely recommend it.
After that, we called it a night, except that I ended up staying up WAY past my bed time finishing not one, but TWO books. They were both really good and I was close to the end of both, so I didn’t stop reading until 12:15. The books I finished were If I Die Tonight by Alison Gaylin, which was for my mystery book club, and a nonfiction title called This is All I Got by Lauren Sandler. Both very good and very different. I’ll be reviewing them both in a couple of weeks on here if you’re interested.
Sunday was a beautiful day and I had a pretty productive morning. More laundry and some tidying up. I did a big clean in both of the kid’s rooms and ended up throwing a lot of stuff out. I was so sick of just looking at their messes, honestly. I cleaned a bit in the dining room, set up my new Aldi letter board, fixed a Christmas lantern with some hardcore gorilla glue, and did some work for my brand new Pink Zebra wax business! Yes, I FINALLY joined as a consultant last week! We launched our fall / winter catalog on Saturday and I was absolutely pumped and thrilled to see all the amazing new stuff. I did a lot of work on my Facebook group this weekend just trying to get it all set up. I’ve been having a lot of fun with it so far and can’t wait for my starter kit and samples to arrive this week.
Because it was so nice out, we set up the kids little splash pad in the yard and went out there before lunch. Caleb loved jumping in and out of it, but Holden has never been a big fan of water. He mainly ran around the yard, and I spent most of the time chasing him as he careened down the driveway and sidewalk. How a chubby baby can almost outrun me, I will never know. Anyway, they played for a bit then we went in, dried off, and I gave them some leftover pizza for lunch from their dinner the night before (what… do your kids eat prime rib?!). After lunch, it was nap time again for Holden and me. I truly believe that weekends are for napping… there is no shame in my napping game. Ha! I often have a hard time falling asleep, and mostly just “nap” to relax, but this time I most definitely fell asleep. Must have been my late bedtime the night before!
After we woke up around 4, it was just hanging out around the house the rest of the night. I did a little more laundry, watched some America Says and My Lottery Dream Home, and fought with the kids to eat their dinner as per usual. Jerry and I went to bed around 9, but I stayed up late again alternating between my book and my phone. I really need to break the horrible habit of constant scrolling, but alas, this weekend was not the weekend.
All in all, it was a fairly lowkey weekend.
