Weekend Recap (12)

Hi all! Happy Tuesday again. Time for another weekend recap. This month is flying by, isn’t it? Holy cow. What did you all get up to this weekend? Here’s what we did.

Let’s see. Friday was Friday the 13th. Back in the day, I used to like to celebrate the occasion with scary movies and snacks, but life is weird enough right now, so it was pretty much a regular day. Ha! I worked all day, got home, had something to eat, and hung out with the family. I was super excited all day because at 7 pm, we had a live online launch event happening for Pink Zebra. Our home office in Texas was doing a live video event for some new surprise Christmas items, so I hunkered down to watch that, and despite some technical difficulties, I got a new reindeer Simmer Pot I’d been wanting, and ordered a new Christmas scent to try. That was the BIG excitement of my week. LOL.

Saturday morning was a busy one for me running lots of errands sans children, just picking up some stuff and making a couple of Pink Zebra deliveries. I got home around lunch time, and Jerry had been doing some experimenting in the kitchen, luckily for me! He made conchas (Mexican sweet bread) for the first time ever, and they came out great! He ate them all the time when he was growing up in California, but no one has them around here and he missed them. Caleb wouldn’t try them, but Holden loved them and so did I. YUM!

After lunch, Holden and I napped and Caleb played. My aunt surprised us by stopping by to help Jerry in the yard, and they got all the leaves mowed and bagged up, so the lawn is all ready and looking nice for winter. Our yard looks better than it has all fall! Thanks to my aunt Karin for always helping us with the yard, and even helping us plant a garden in the spring. Even though most of our plants died because we don’t get good sunlight, now we know what we can do to try and get it to grow better next year!

Anyway, one of the stops I made earlier in the day was to Walmart. While there, I grabbed a Rotisserie chicken and Jerry had whipped up some fried rice with it. As usual, Caleb wouldn’t touch it, but Holden loved it, so we had that for dinner while Caleb had something else, sigh. After putting Holden to bed, I decided to indulge in my first Hallmark Christmas movie of the season, and it was a good one: Cranberry Christmas. This was above average for a Hallmark movie and I would definitely recommend it!

Sunday morning was a busy one with my Pink Zebra stuff. I had to catch up on making blends and putting together orders from the week, so I spent about two hours first thing in the morning doing all that. It can be a little time consuming and stressful at times, but it’s mostly fun. I’m working on getting more organized, and getting a better system into place, but it’s not there quite yet. I did get some filing folders put together onto my new rolling cart on Sunday, and then organized all my various labels into them, so that’s a start!

The rest of Sunday was a combination lazy / chore day. Jerry did a buttload of laundry and kept bringing me up mountains of stuff to fold. I was surrounded by baskets of laundry all day, and now on Tuesday, am STILL trying to get caught up on it. Did I ever tell you that laundry is the bane of my existence? Well it is. I’ve talked before about it, but I’m not really naturally inclined to domesticity, and I STILL struggle with it. My freaking brain is always off in la-la land, either stressing out, half asleep, or being creative and writing up something in my head. I think “creative types” tend to be like this: frazzled, anxious, and always thinking of other things.

In the evening, after getting the kids settled, I alternated between watching the 20/20 special about Susan Powell and another Hallmark Christmas movie… and if that doesn’t just sum me up in one sentence I don’t know what does. True crime junkie who also loves Hallmark movies? Yes please.

Hope you all are having an okay week so far! I’ll be back later in the week with more updates.
