Hi all! I had no intentions of disappearing last week, but I took some vacation time from work, and it just kind of happened. Most people take time off from work in the summer, but I take time off in the fall, because fall and Halloween are my favorite. So yes, while blogging doesn’t necessarily feel like work, sometimes you just need a break from your job, and anything else that also feels like a responsibility at times, like your blog. Right? Right! So now I’m back! Later this week I’ll do my full October month in review where I’ll talk more about my staycation and time off, but for today, let’s talk goals! Here we go…
October 2020 Goals Recap
❌ Schedule car appointments: FAIL. I did make them today, though! They’re booked for the end of this month. Yay!
❌ Finish October book club book in time for the meeting: FAIL. I didn’t finish in time for the meeting, though I did finish it at the end of the month!
❌ Finish three horror books: FAIL. I only finished one book.
❌ Finish watching Creepshow, season one: FAIL. We didn’t watch any more of this. Dang it.
✅ Finish watching Halloween Baking Championship: DONE!
✅ Finish watching Halloween Wars: DONE!
❌ Finish watching Outrageous Pumpkins: FAIL, kind of. I finished the day after Halloween.
❌ Re-watch Hell House LLC: FAIL, kind of again. They released a director’s cut the day before Halloween. Jerry and I started watching it on Halloween night, but didn’t finish it because I was super tired from my new migraine medication, Topamax.
❌ Watch three horror movies in total: FAIL. I mostly watched Halloween shows this month, as seen above.
✅ Get a new nutritionist: DONE! I felt so incredibly relieved when I made this call. The office kind of discouraged it, but they let me do it. I have to “start over” and do a nutrition seminar again, but I’ve heard GREAT things about my new nutritionist, Molly. My seminar is this Thursday, via Zoom.
❌ Pay off all three medical bills: FAIL. I paid off one, though! That’s a win.
✅ Hit 1000 SV for Pink Zebra: DONE. Crushed this goal, and hit over 3,000! My best month yet!
❌ Get to six more donut places: FAIL. We did three more in October. We had a list of nine more we needed in order to totally complete Donut Quest (which was a longshot). In all though, we visited a total of nine bakeries / farms for DQ 2020, some with MULTIPLE trips, so it was a great year for Donut Quest. Paula’s in Buffalo had the best donuts, hands down, but they’re just a regular old donut shop. If we’re talking farm stands who carry seasonal fry cakes, Schutts was our winner this year. I thank my good friend Denise for being my Donut Quest 2020 partner, and my other dear friend Christine for traveling to Buffalo with me to try the life-changing Paula’s Donuts, to which we will go again soon I hope!
✅ Take Caleb to Powers for their spooky event: DONE! Yes, we took Caleb to Powers Farm Market for his favorite annual Spooky Hayride, and as always, he wanted to go back again and again.
✅ Save up for and go on overnight spooky trip: DONE! Yes! Jerry and I went to Herkimer, NY for an overnight trip for our anniversary. We stayed at an amazing bed and breakfast, went to dinner, and went to a haunted attraction. It was a lot of fun. The week after, I had a week off from work and enjoyed a nice little staycation.
✅ Have a fun Halloween: DONE! The kids did a Halloween candy hunt at my parent’s house, and we enjoyed a night at home after that.
✅ Total Completed: 7 of 16. Not too bad, considering the year that we’re in right now.
November 2020 Goals
- Pay off final two medical bills: roll over goal. Get it done!
- Hit 2000 SV for Pink Zebra: I think I can, I think I can!
- Purchase six Christmas gifts: time to start Christmas shopping.
- Watch eight Christmas movies: my DVR is LITERALLY jam packed with Hallmark Christmas movies already. We need them this year now more than ever.
- Finish my November mystery book club in time for our meeting: the book is Somewhere in the Dark by R.J. Jacobs, and it’s fantastic so far!
- Read two Christmas books: time to start my seasonal reading!
- Clean our bedroom: the big project I worked on when I was off work was cleaning the kid’s rooms. This month, I really need to clean OUR room.
And that is it. A couple of finance / business goals, and a couple of holiday and seasonal goals. I usually do way more goals, but this year sucks the big one, and I think we’re all just trying to survive it right now.
One messy step at a time still moves you forward.
