Five Things From the Weekend (1)

Hi everyone, and happy(ish) Monday! How was your weekend? It was freezing and very snowy here. I got stuck in the driveway multiple times, and eventually had to just gun it out of there. Sigh. Tried to stay home, but we did have to run some errands. I went out to pick up birria tacos on Saturday night, and Jerry went to Wegmans (and surprised me with my favorite: a cookie cup). Other than that, here are five things that happened this weekend.

One: Sledding

My Aunt Karin, who is very outdoors-y and much more fun and adventurous than we are, brought some sleds over for the kids. We have a pretty decent hill in our yard, and she said when she was young, she thought it was a huge, fun hill (remember, we bought our house from my great-grandparents, who were HER grandparents). The kids had a lot of fun, although Holden whined basically every time he got to the bottom. Jerry even went down the hill a couple of times, and it was his first time sledding EVER (he’s from California). I did not sled, because I am not fun or adventurous, but I did watch, and then brought Holden in to dry off.

Two: Bakery trip

A few weeks ago, a local bakery started doing a special “Spin the Wheel Saturday” thing where they put out a small wheel every Saturday and you can spin it to win a prize. Caleb is obsessed with it and asks to go every single weekend. When I forget, he remembers. Anyway, going to the bakery is now our Saturday tradition. He’s won a couple of times (a free cupcake, 20% off), and shouts and jumps up and down every time he wins. This weekend he won “your 6th cupcake free,” but we hadn’t bought cupcakes (just cookies), so we explained that it was much better than “try again next week,” which he HATES, and that he technically still kind of won. He’s so funny and smart. Right now, he’s obsessed with Beethoven, and just this weekend said that he wants to take piano lessons! I played when I was younger, but not anymore. Anyway, I started looking into lessons and then some keyboards and used pianos since he’ll need something to practice on at home. I’m hoping we can start this up soon.

Three: Laser hair treatment

You guys have heard me mentioning this for the last ohhh, 3 or 4 years? I started getting laser hair removal quite a long time ago, but then stopped because I was pregnant, and then stopped because life got in the way, and then stopped because of COVID. Anyway, I am determined to finally finish once and for all this year! Saturday was my fifth session and you usually need anywhere between 6 and 10!

Four: Cleaned the dining room and bedroom

I am very disorganized and have too many collections of “stuff,” so one of my goals this year is to get organized. The dining room table and our bedroom have both become dumping grounds for random junk, and I’ve been slowly working on getting them cleaned. It takes me awhile because I want everything to be organized and have a proper place, and not just shoved into a closet. I am the queen of buying storage bins, and I was able to get a decent amount organized and stored this weekend. Both areas are looking better, but I need to get some more bins from Walmart, hopefully this week or next!

Five: I got "promoted" in Pink Zebra

I had a pleasant and exciting surprise Saturday morning when I pulled out my phone to a barrage of messages and notifications from my team members telling me that I had just promoted. I went from “Consultant” to “Executive Consultant” (you can even see it on my site)! This title change literally means nothing to anyone who isn’t in PZ, but it was still exciting for me, and very unexpected. I had no plans to really be successful with this when I started… I just wanted a discount! Anyway, it ended up turning into quite a little business venture for me! In the PZ world, there are lots of titles above mine, but this is one step up from the first level and it means I have 3 active consultants under me (none of whom I personally “recruited” because I am not into recruiting). We had been waiting for the last of these 3 ladies to go “active” (hitting a certain sales level) and when she did on Saturday morning, POOF, I promoted.

Anyway, that’s basically our weekend in a nutshell. I have just a few random thoughts from the weekend though that didn’t quite warrant their own section above:

  • Are any of you interested in the Mars mission and the Perseverance Rover that just landed? I am! Space has always fascinated me and boggles my mind! How in the world a piece of equipment that large can fly hundreds of MILLIONS of miles over a 6 month period and land on another planet is absolutely amazing.
  • Chris D’Elia made his first video and statement since he faced accusations over the summer that completely made him disappear. It was surprising and exciting to finally hear from him again. I’ve seen him do stand up live and am a huge fan of his podcast. I have thoughts about everything that happened, but it’s a whole mess and I won’t get into it here. I just hope to see him come back to comedy and his podcast soon.
  • I am obsessed with this lawyer cat video. It’s the funniest thing I have seen in a very long time.
  • Jerry and I watched the movie Fantasy Island on Saturday night. I thought it was pretty decent, but he didn’t like it much. Anyone else see that one?
  • Okay, this was technically last week but I’m still thinking about it: I watched The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel and I was / am obsessed with it! I love true crime, documentaries, and all of that (as you know), but my very favorite true crime shows are ones about disappearances (a la Disappeared) so this one just totally captured me. SPOILER ALERT: Obviously the ending was tragic, because she was found deceased, but I am going with the theory that it was an accidental death due to a mental health episode. There are a lot of theories out there (I joined a Facebook group), but that’s the one that seems the most plausible to me based on the evidence (or lack thereof). The hotel and Skid Row are both fascinating subjects themselves too, even aside from this story. Definitely been reading up about both of those topics too. Have you watched? What’s your theory?

Okay, that’s really it this time! I hope you all have a great week.
