Books Read
I’m almost done with this book that I started in January and it’s excellent. It’s about the Shannan Watts / Chris Watts case.
- The Perfect Father by John Glatt
What I Watched
I was very sad that the Hallmark Christmas season was over, so I ended up indulging in lots of my beloved reality TV.
- Love After Lockup / Life After Lockup
- My 600 Pound Life
- 1000 Pound Sisters
- The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City
- Several true crime shows: Deadly Cults (Heaven’s Gate is insane), Killer Siblings
Happenings and Tidbits
- I turned 32! Jerry made alfredo for dinner and my parents came over. He also made a cookie dough brownie cake since it’s my favorite and costs $45 at the bakery. It was a nice, lowkey birthday. I went to an antique store in the morning sans children, and it was nice.
- Caleb turned SIX! He was very excited. He asked if he was taller, and has repeatedly asked if he can use Sharpies now that he’s six. We went to Abbotts for ice cream because he wanted that, and then my parents came over for dinner. It was a toss up between his two favorites: KFC or Chinese, and he chose Chinese.
- Jerry turned 34! It was another lowkey birthday. He wanted Pino’s and snickerdoodle cookies so I ran and grabbed all of that for his special day.
- A new Caleb Says, this time while trying to convince me to buy him speakers at Walmart: “but they need a home. They’ve been waiting for someone like me.” Also, Caleb got an Aldi gift card for Christmas, and chose to buy a space heater with it. He didn’t look at the toys, books, candy, or junk food. He spotted the space heater within a minute of walking in. He immediately wanted it and didn’t even want to LOOK at anything else. “It will keep me warm in my room! AND it has a fan!”
- Jerry OFFICIALLY got the promotion to Grounds at work! Woohoo! It’s been a loooong time coming, because he’d been cross training for about a year.
- The freeze on student loan payments, which was set to expire at the end of January, has been extended through September now. Hallelujah! No payments and no interest, for those of you who are not in the know.
- I made a great decision with my doctor to switch to a new bariatric program.
- I won the “Best Blend Basher” award on my Pink Zebra team.
- I had a girl’s night with my mom, sister in law, and our friend Krystin, who sells ColorStreet. She came over to hang out and help us learn how to put our nails on better!
- Caleb, Mom, and I had a little “back to school” shopping day at Target to get school supplies, Valentines for his class, and a couple of new outfits for him. Sigh. I remember going school shopping with my mom for MYSELF, and now I’m taking Caleb. Time… slow down!
Coming Up in February
- This already happened, but Caleb started going to kindergarten in person in February. He switched from 100% virtual to hybrid for the second half of the school year. We decided to do this after we saw that the infection rates were pretty low in schools. It was hard for me as a mom to send my baby off into the world, and it was hard for him too. Tomorrow will be his second day, so wish us luck.
- I have my (virtual) intake appointment with my new bariatric program. I’m excited to get the ball rolling again!
- Our new Spring / Summer catalog launches for Pink Zebra this weekend, which is very exciting! All new warmers, décor, and SCENTS! With the new catalog, I’m crossing my fingers that I reach Pink Sapphire status this month as well.
- I’m starting back up with laser hair removal treatments this month. This has been a super long ongoing process for me because I’ve had to start and stop so many times, mostly due to pregnancies. I hope to complete the treatments this year!
- I have another Blend Bash coming up at the end of the month. The group is always limited to 10, and I do ask guests to wear their masks, so I try to be responsible and safe.
