Time for another What’s Up Wednesday, to share all the little news and details of what’s going on in our world right now.
What we’re eating
A better question would probably be what are we NOT eating, because the boys are so picky that we’re running out of ideas of what to feed them! Caleb discovered he like raviolis though when I had some last week, so that’s something new. In other news, my favorite specialty cookie baker re-opened last week after a long hiatus, so of course I got in during her grand re-opening orders, though it’ll be my last order for awhile due to my upcoming-ish bariatric surgery (updates coming soon, I promise). This weekend, I’m hosting another Blend Bash, and I always make crockpot buffalo chicken dip, so we’ll be eating that soon! Other than that, nothing new or unusual with the food lately.
What I’m reminiscing about
Well, this week I picked out a toddler bed for Holden that I’m going to order tomorrow. He’s only 2 and I honestly don’t think he’s ready to transition out of a crib yet, but he broke his crib by jumping in it, AND he climbed out once… so we kind of don’t have a choice. It’s pretty sad to be getting rid of the crib soon that both of our boys slept in as babies.
What I’m loving
That after a rough first week of school for Caleb (switched from all virtual to hybrid), he is now doing well. Holden learning to say “yay.” All the cool images and updates about Mars from the rover that just landed there last week.
What I’m dreading
Not really dreading, but definitely not looking forward to all the nagging little tasks that we need to do soon and always delay, like getting the dog’s hair cut and getting oil changes in BOTH cars. These are all going on the goals for next month, otherwise they won’t get done.
What we’ve been up to
Basically the same “not much” that’s been the case since COVID started. Jerry’s had to work a lot of OT because we’ve been hit hard with snow over the last few weeks. My aunt came over with sleds so the boys could go sledding in our side yard. Work. School for Caleb. Same old, same old.
What I’m working on
Work still continues to be work “COVID style,” which is to say… weird, but okay. A lot of our staff is gone, and we’re working different hours than we’re accustomed to, but we’ve been doing this since May now, so it’s slowly becoming the norm for us. Aside from my real job, I’ve been very busy with my Pink Zebra business. I got promoted to an Executive Consultant, and one of the ladies who I sponsor lives nearby, so I went over her house recently to help her get started.
What I’m excited about
Moving along well in my new bariatric program! I’m really liking this program and the people so much better, and I’m feeling positive and excited about it again. I’m also excited about the awesome new logo and tagline I made up for our mystery book club at work, and the bookmarks I ordered (see below). Lastly, I’m excited about the new logo I’m having designed for my PZ business. I could have made one myself, but I was able to get a logo and business card design for around $30 on Etsy, so I went with that instead.
What I’m watching
Jerry and I watched the movie Fantasy Island. He didn’t like it but I thought it was pretty decent. I also recently watched and was obsessed with the Cecil Hotel series on Netflix. Now Jerry and I are working our way through the Night Stalker one now, which I don’t like as much. I’m also caught up on 1000 Pound Sisters and My 600 Pound Life. I’m usually never caught up with shows, but here we are! More TV time with less plans due to COVID.
What I’m reading
I’m currently finishing up The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley for my mystery book club. I like it! It’s a pretty unique mystery.
What I’m doing this weekend
More Pink Zebra. I have a Blend Bash on Saturday. It’s a party where people come and make their own wax blends. It’s fun, but just very chaotic for me. I usually say “I’m not going to do one again for awhile,” but then I do them every month. Ha! I do them as safely as possible. I ask everyone to wear a mask, and I only send 3 people up to the blending area at a time.
What I’m looking forward to next month
Our tax appointment. Yes, it’s exciting because we always get a refund. Two more appointments for my bariatric program. Yes, it’s exciting because I’m knocking requirements off the list and getting closer to surgery. What else… I have another Blend Bash in March, so that should be fun / stressful. I’m also looking forward to getting more of the new spring / summer scents we released for PZ. I’ve only been able to order a few in so far, with plans to order a few more in March.
What else is new
Oh! Caleb has recently become interested in Beethoven. Over the weekend, he told me he wants to take “plano lessons,” so that’s something that will hopefully be on the horizon. I used to take lessons when I was a kid, and wish I had stuck with it. I think Caleb will do well.
And that’s what’s up this week!
