Happy, happy Friday friends! It’s been a long weird week for me. Has it been weird for you? The week started off with my procedures on Monday, and I swear, the anesthesia lingered for days. I’ve felt off and kind of nauseous all week. I’m super grateful for the weekend, that’s for sure. Here is what I’ve been loving about life lately.
❤️ Nutrition clearance
I had my second nutrition appointment yesterday with my new-ish bariatric program and I was pretty nervous. As we all know, in my first program, I had the dietitian from hell who caused me to quit. So, needless to say, I’ve been pretty wary of dietitians and had developed some built in panic in even thinking about the words “nutrition appointment” or “dietitian.” Being cleared for nutrition is probably the longest and hardest clearance to go through in a bariatric program, so I wasn’t looking forward to it. However, I GOT CLEARED!!! This is the most relieved and hopeful I have felt in a long, long time. I demonstrated to her that I’ve been able to learn enough about the rules of bariatric eating and how careful I’ll have to be with my new stomach. I had to make sample meal plans for the liquid and pureed stages, etc. I’m still nervous that I’ll mess up, but I also recognize that I’ll be a part of the program for life, will have yearly follow up appointments, and will be able to contact the dietitian and surgeon with questions whenever I have them in the future. I’ve officially completed all of my pre-op requirements, so it’s getting really real!
❤️ Change of weather
You all know I don’t like summer or hot weather… but I also don’t like rain or freezing temps. I prefer a brisk, cool fall day. Sweater weather, as they say. We finally got some nice spring weather going here in New York this week. It’d basically been winter up until this point, which is some BS. It’s not hot yet, but it’s also not miserably cold either. It’s in the 60’s, which is basically ideal weather. Spring for sure is my second favorite season of the year, because fall is obviously first. We can put away our boots and heavy coats. We get sunlight which is happy. It’s the start of ice cream eating, hot dog grilling, neighborhood walking, driveway sealing weather. No complaints here!
❤️ Not going into stores
LMAO I am so antisocial that curbside pickup becoming more and more prevalent is a dream for me. I try to avoid in person shopping as much as possible. Jerry does our weekly grocery shop at Aldi / Wegmans, and then when we need other random things throughout the week or month, I look for them in either the Walmart app or Target app and then order and pick up as needed. I even pick up my prescriptions curbside at Wegmans when Jerry “forgets” to grab them for me.
❤️ Jogger sweats
I basically live in leggings, and I needed some loose baggy clothes to wear to the hospital on Monday for my procedures, so I decided to order a sweatshirt and sweatpants. I have no idea why, but I agonized over this decision, scouring over tons of options on Walmart, Target, and Amazon. I finally settled on some joggers and a green sweatshirt I found on Amazon. Both were super soft and comfortable and now I want to live in them forever. This is not sponsored nor am I an affiliate… these are the pants I got in the gray camo print. They are so soft, comfy, and have pockets. I want to get them in ALLLLL the colors, but I am holding off until I have surgery and lose weight. Probably won’t buy anymore clothes at all until then so I don’t waste money on stuff that won’t fit soon.
That’s all for now! Next week I need to try and catch up on some blog posts: April month in review (super late), and a full Steph Gets Skinny update since I’ve just been updating in bits and pieces here and there.
