Thankful Thursday (1)

I decided to link up with Rebecca Jo today for my first ever Thankful Thursday post! I can be a glass half empty person at times and seeing those posts has inspired me to look for the good in every day things… so here’s what I’m thankful for this week!

Jerry having off

Jerry has off work today and tomorrow which is great. He works evenings/nights and I workdays, so we usually don’t see each other much at all during the week. I’m looking forward to movie nights and dinners with my hubby.

BFF time

I’ve had the same two best friends since 5th and 6th grade and on Monday, we went to Painting With a Twist (more on that tomorrow). I am just so grateful to have shared my life and all of its ups and downs with these two, and that they have become aunts to Caleb instead of jumping ship when I had a baby first. Seriously, when I was pregnant they spent a Friday night with me diaper shopping at Target. I’ll always remember that.

My mom babysitting

My friends and I decided to go painting on a whim and I was able to do it because my mom was willing to babysit, as she almost always is. I appreciate it because I still like to hang out with my friends on occasion without bringing Caleb and I know he’s in good hands. Often I bring him along, but sometimes I just can’t or need a break.

Easter candy

It’s chocolate, so of course I’m thankful. We filled Caleb’s eggs with candies and have been enjoying it all week long. And thanks to my cousin Ellen who dropped some off to me at work for us to enjoy too!

Long weekends

I had a long weekend for Easter and it was glorious! I think I’ll try and use some comp or vacation time over the summer and take a couple of Fridays off for long weekends.

Funny books with Caleb

Caleb and I recently discovered our new favorite picture book, Pig the Pug by Aaron Blabey. This book is hands down the funniest kid’s book I’ve ever read. Pig is a greedy pug who doesn’t want to share his toys. The rhyming dialogue is catchy and hilarious, and the illustrations and facial expressions on Pig are HYSTERICAL! The first time I was reading it to him, I started laughing which resulted in Caleb cracking up too… and he does it every time we read it still. I love the sound of his hysterical laughter.

Library holds

Netflix is convenient and I’m a big fan, but they don’t always have a specific movie you’re looking for, and that’s when library holds come in handy! Now I know I’m a librarian, but I don’t even think I’m being bias. I’ve been putting a lot of silly horror movies on hold for Jerry and me and we’re having fun with those. Not to mention the dozens and dozens of BOOKS I put on hold a year. Seeing my holds come in is as fun as getting a package in the mail, even though I’ve been doing it for 15+ years… never gets old.

Wicked soundtrack

I’ve basically been listening to the CD nonstop in my car since seeing Wicked for the 3rd time a couple of weeks ago.

Blog tours

I know that book reviews aren’t always the most popular of posts, but I used to be exclusively a book blogger then I stopped reviewing altogether because I burnt out. I’ve been a lifestyle blogger for the last few years, but I’ve started signing up for a few blog tours a month again. I’ve been enjoying it because it’s pushing me to read more than ever before! I hope you all don’t mind the extra reviews around here lately.

Home repairs

My brother recently fixed our toilet and it only cost $6.99 for a part at Home Depot (the handle fell off and it was wildly inconvenient having to reach into the tank to flush for a month), and our gutter which fell off in the windstorm should be getting fixed in the next few days too!

Blogger pen pals

I started a Blogger Pen Pal group a few months back, and though we’re a small group, it’s been fun! We’re getting to know one another and sending and receiving fun mail every month. And it’s easy too: just send two cards/notes a month to your partner and voila! Most of the mail I get is junk, so this is always a fun surprise.

And that'll do it for this week!
