Happy Monday! We had a pretty fun and productive-ish weekend so I decided I’d try my hand at one of these weekend recaps I’m always seeing. Not sure how often I’ll do them, but here we are!
Friday night after work, I was supposed to go to a Lularoe party but I ended up staying home because Caleb hasn’t been feeling well (and Jerry works nights, if you didn’t know – he goes in at 5 pm). If you know me, you’ll know that I am not a skilled chef so I was proud of myself for cooking a chicken and rice casserole for Caleb and me for dinner, only to have him refuse to even try it. He had peanut butter crackers for dinner. #fail

Dakota just being cute on Friday |
After he went to bed, I watched a little Teen Mom 2 (I love trashy reality TV), then read in bed. Jerry took a half day and got home at 9. I got out of bed to have some dip I made for him and then I called it a night.
Saturday was fun! I woke up early to meet a new friend out in the country. I met this lady a few months ago when I bought some primitive decor from her off of Craigslist. We stayed in touch via email and chatted about our mutual love for primitives and dogs, and decided to get together sometime for some prim shopping and lunch. Well, we finally got together and we had such a nice time! She moved out to the country, so I met her there, about 35 minutes away. She took me to a couple of stores I hadn’t been to, and we had a nice lunch and chatted about all kinds of things. I’m always nervous hanging out with new friends, but we really hit it off. She also drove me around the area, showed me her house and what was in “town.” It definitely amped up my desire even more to move out to the country. It’s not logical right now due to jobs and babysitting and family, but in the future, it’s my dream. We plan to get together again. Yay for new friends!
While we were out shopping, I got a few things, though I limited my budget to $20. I bought this vintage truck for Caleb’s big boy room (which isn’t set up yet). He has vintage prim dressers and I thought it’d look cute on top of one of those plus double as a toy. I also got three small wall hangings for $3.00 a pop and a collar for Dakota that ended up being too small.
I got home and had a nap with Caleb and Jerry. Once we were all up, we decided to go to Ollie’s (a bargain outlet store). We love to just go look around there from time to time since their stock is always changing. I got some books and wax melts and Jerry got some K cups and pretzels. Then we headed out to our favorite hibachi buffet for dinner. Caleb was pretty good and played with his Kindle after he started acting up. He ate fries and pudding for dinner. Lord, help me. After, we went to a different Ollie’s near the restaurant – ha! Got some more books and a toy for Caleb, who had to be taken outside because he was throwing a fit and kept chucking his Kindle on the floor. Yeah, that wasn’t embarrassing at all!
After we got home, I gave Caleb a bath and got him ready for bed. We read my favorite, Goodnight Moon. Jerry and I then settled in for a movie like we do most weekend nights after Cal goes to bed. We watched The Human Centipede. It was gross and disturbing but I thought it was fairly well done! It was definitely a unique horror film and I enjoyed it since I’m a major horror buff.
Sunday was a much more lowkey day. We did our usual Sunday morning cleaning. I’m also working on decluttering so I brought a box upstairs to sort through. It was mostly old CDs and movies. I was able to throw out or donate about half of them (I keep a donation box running at all times).
We had our normal afternoon nap with Caleb after a quick lunch, then the three of us got up and went for a walk. It was a little windy and chilly, but nice enough to get outside for some exercise and fresh air FINALLY. Caleb loved it – he’s a huge fan of wind for some reason. We took him out in his stroller for about a half hour around the neighborhood. We got home and I read a bit then we had dinner – Indian chicken (they have a delicious sauce at Aldi that we love) and rice, which Caleb loved. He’s SO picky and hasn’t been eating much, so it was a relief that he devoured some food for dinner.
We watched an episode of Disappeared (one of my favorites!) and I did some blogging while Cal played with his Kindle Fire and Jerry gamed. After we got Caleb to bed, I did some last minute tidying so we could start the week with a clean house, and we watched the sequel to Human Centipede. It was repulsive and I would not advise anyone to watch it. Ew.
That was my weekend and it was much needed. I’m on a 6 day work week stretch now since it’s my turn to work Saturday. I’m looking forward to the long Easter weekend.
