Symptoms:
- I had a low-key headache for about three days. My Fioricet, the miracle drug I got last week, didn’t seem to help. The good news is, it wasn’t a major migraine. The bad news is, it was uncomfortable.
- Continued dry heaving when I’m around smelly garbage or other gross things. Fun, I tell you.
- Oh, I also feel kind of congested lately. NOT at all like I’m sick or have a cold, just that my nose isn’t quite right. Kind of weird.
Sleep: I had a terrible night’s sleep last night, but other than that, pregnancy insomnia seemed to go away for a lot of the week! They’re right when they say that the urgency to pee decreases around week 12, because I’m now only getting up about once a night, where before it was 4 – 5 times. It will come back with a vengeance as the belly grows though, I know.
Diet/Cravings: Chocolate milk every morning, as usual. I drank this every morning when I was pregnant with Caleb, and it’s the same this time around. I’ve also been really into juice lately. It tastes so good and refreshing.
Exercise: Great week! I got to the gym three days: Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. I did 30 minutes on the treadmill each time. Next week is going to be harder since I’m working Monday – Saturday. I’m going to try and squeeze in at least a couple of work outs though.
Good Moments:
- We had our 12 week ultrasound that they perform at the hospital. Baby measured well and we got to see them being active. Also got to see their little foot!
- Discovering I have only gained between 2.5 – 4 pounds so far, depending on the day I weigh myself. Hallelujah!
- My new nephew was born! So cool that these two babies will only be a few months apart, just like Caleb and his cousin Lucas are.
- Jerry made me some homemade brownies as a surprise! I tagged him on FB in a recipe and said the baby and I wouldn’t mind them and POOF, he made them!
Bad Moments: The ultrasound falls into this category too, in a way. Our 12 week ultrasound with Caleb was GREAT! We got awesome views and amazing pictures. This one… not so much. We really didn’t get a good look at the baby, and aside from one picture that is somewhat decent, the rest were blobs. The tech said she got the measurements that she needed but that the baby wasn’t cooperating otherwise, and shut the machine down. She spent a total of about 5 – 10 minutes with us. My bestie went for the same scan at the same place a couple of weeks ago and they spent 30 minutes with her, which leads me to believe we got a not-so-great tech. Some of it can also be affected by weight, I’ve heard, and I was thinner with Caleb. Ah, well.
Looking Forward To:
- Being in the second trimester in ONE WEEK!
- Because of my disappointment with our ultrasound, and the fact that our next one (medically) is at 20 weeks, we decided to book an elective one in a couple of weeks. More on that later.
Comparisons: Here is my 13 week bumpdate with Caleb. Now they say that the second trimester starts at 14 weeks, though I didn’t seem to think so last time. HA! Other than that, I had the same bursts of energy this week as I did in my first pregnancy. I did a lot of cleaning this weekend, too! Caleb’s heartbeat was about 160 and this baby’s was about 163 at the ultrasound. Apparently, I had a 14 week ultrasound and doctor’s appointment with Caleb, which is weird. My next appointment this time is at 16 weeks, and the next ultrasound at 20. This is typical, so I’m thinking I had the extra appointment with Caleb due to my subchorionic hematoma, though I didn’t say in the update so I am merely guessing.
