Happy June, friends! Here’s how I did on my May goals, and what’s on deck for June!
May 2018 Goals Recap
Personal Goals
❌ Work out 10 times: FAIL. I walked or went to the gym only seven times. The beginning and the end of the month were hard for me. Definitely need to do better in June. 5/5, 5/6, 5/9, 5/16, 5/20, 5/23, 5/26
✅ Read and discard three magazines: DONE! I read People (2), and Rachael Ray (1).
✅ Cook at least one Sunday dinner: DONE! I made crockpot chicken with brown sugar and garlic. It was a winner, and very simple.
❌ Make three Diplicious sales: FAIL. I made one sale this month. Thank you to my friend, Kelly! If you have a second, please like my Facebook page! We have a fun “mix of the month” every month, and are always coming out with new products, so you’ll be the first to know. I’d love to make a teeny tiny bit of money while I’m out on my maternity leave this fall.
✅ See six movies in theater: DONE! I saw seven.
- Traffik: good, but not great. A one time view. Saw this with Angela and Evin.
- Bad Samaritan: really unique thriller! I enjoyed it. Saw this one alone.
- Overboard: oh how I loved this! It was sweet and funny… my favorite of the month. Saw this on Mother’s Day weekend with my mom and Aunt Nikki.
- Breaking In: typical thriller, but decent enough. Saw this on Mother’s Day with Jerry.
- Tully: really interesting and unique movie about motherhood. A little slow, but ultimately good and very relatable, especially as someone who suffered from PPD. Saw this with Catie.
- Life of the Party: kind of corny, but had some cute and funny moments. Saw this with Mom.
- Book Club: Cute! Definitely more for the older crowd, but I thought it had some funny and endearing moments. This was our Girl’s Movie Club pick of the month and I saw it with Mom, Angela, and Katie.
Financial Goals
❌ Don’t buy any Lemax: FAIL. I bought a couple of pieces. My friend found my number one wishlist item (hard to find) on eBay, and I was able to get it for under $30.
✅ Pay $200 on credit card: DONE! We paid $340 this month. Yessss, crushing it!
Household goals
✅ Clean out and re-organize kitchen cabinet under microwave: DONE! Pictures and updates coming soon on a Clutter Chronicles post.
✅ Clean out and re-organize “primitive” kitchen cabinet: DONE! See above.
✅ Sort through and clean out our two drawers of kitchen gadgets: DONE!
❌ Clean out the fridge and freezer again: FAIL. I just didn’t get to it.
✅ Buy replacement appliances: DONE. I threw out a bunch of appliances and bought replacements for only two. The others, we don’t really use. I bought a new hand mixer since ours was missing a beater, and a food processor, since ours was broken.
✅ Make sure dishwasher is unloaded and/or loaded every evening (with four passes): DONE! I started this routine in April and it’s made life easier for me. I had three or four passes in May, but only one was purposeful and the other were accidental.
Other notable accomplishments
- Made two Goodwill drop offs (clothes and books).
- Cleaned out the nursery (though Caleb made a mess again and we will have to re-do this).
- Uploaded tons of photos to Shutterfly and had my last three 2017 books made from the Make My Book service. Now I wait for a good sale to order!
✅ Total Completed: 9 of 13. I think this was a pretty good month. I’m most bummed about missing my work out goal, but I love how well we did with our credit card and all the kitchen progress I made. I literally have hundreds of magazines and NEVER read them, so I was happy to start making some progress with them in the name of de-cluttering and prepping to eventually move. All in all, I had a great month of May!
June 2018 Goals
Personal goals
- Upload all photos for my January – March Shutterfly album and get book made: trying to get my albums all caught up before the baby’s arrival and the hundreds of accompanying photos that will come with it!
- See four movies in theater: cutting back on my movie goal a bit because I’ve been having trouble fitting them all in with my schedule.
- Go the gym eight times: I want to get there at least twice a week.
- Go to a baseball game: we took Caleb to his first game last year and I’d love to take him to his second this month!
- Read three magazines
Financial goals
- Pay $200 on Visa credit card: this balance is getting lower and lower and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
- Get window repaired: we have a broken window in our living room (just the glass) and we got a quote LAST YEAR for repairs. It’s just over $300, so we’ve been putting it off. However, I’m wanting to slowly start the process of prepping the house to sell in a year or so, and this is important. Pretty sure this is getting done in June since we already had them order the glass, so this should be an easy one to knock off the list.
- Pay for Jerry’s car inspection (and possible repairs) without the credit card: his car is being inspected this month. Let’s hope there’s nothing wrong, but if there IS, that we can pay outright and not use the credit card.
- Increase Caleb’s savings by $100: preschool tuition payments are coming up, and at least one of them falls during the time frame that I’m out on maternity leave.
- Buy new bedding for Caleb: his new “big boy” bed is set up, but there isn’t anything on it yet!
Household Goals
- Pack up two totes of books: my “library” room is a disaster with books everywhere. In an attempt to slowly start prepping the house to list, and in my de-cluttering efforts, I’d like to pack up two totes worth of books and move them to the garage.
- Start to simplify the laundry room: the laundry room (aka our only real storage area since we don’t technically have a basement) is the next room up on my simplifying list (the kitchen was the May goal – updates on that soon!). There’s a lot of work to be done here, so I’m going to make this goal general rather than specific. It may take more than just June to complete it, so I’ll be happy and consider this goal complete if I do any work at all down there and at least get started.
One messy step at a time still moves you forward.
