ONE.
This week was my 10 year anniversary at the library, which kind of blows my mind. A decade?! I was a 21 year old undergrad student when I started, and now here I am. It’s been a great journey thus far, and I’m glad to work with some of the best librarians in one of the best libraries (no bias). This week has been a little wild at work though. We’re having some construction done, so it’s been loud, and we’ve had to re-route our entrance temporarily. On top of that, we’re also having some water lines worked on and have had to use other town buildings for their facilities. We’ve all been driving or walking over together like back in high school for bathroom breaks. HA! I’m so glad I took today off though, because I am in need of a break from all the noise!
TWO.
It’s official: the vegetable garden that Jerry and my aunt labored over in May is officially dead and we got ZERO vegetables. We don’t have many options in our yard for planting because most of our yard doesn’t get enough sunlight. Next year, we will try again. We might try some raised garden beds or something. We also need to cut down a very dead tree, as well as replace some windows and doors. Once we get all of that accomplished, the outside of our house and yard will be looking much nicer.
THREE.
While it was NOT an easy decision, we finally decided on keeping Caleb home for 100% remote learning for the first semester of his kindergarten year this fall. Our only other option was 2 days in school and 3 days remote learning. Neither felt like the right choice, so we just made the best decision we could. He will be doing most of his learning at my mom’s house since we’ll be at work, and we can re-assess at the end of the first semester.
FOUR.
I had another virtual visit (my fifth!) with my dietitian yesterday, and for the first time ever, it went well and I didn’t leave it feeling dejected and hopeless. I need to lose about 10 more pounds, and then she will clear me for surgery and pass me onto the surgeon. Things are getting real and I just have to buckle down and get this weight off! I’m getting very excited and nervous. I’ll talk more about it on my next Steph Gets Skinny Post, which will be coming soon since I have a virtual visit with the sleep study doctor today, too.
FIVE.
Plans for my three day weekend include my virtual doctor visit this morning, then a Walmart pickup and thrifting trip to Savers with my mom and the boys. Getting some more protein shakes and healthier foods for the week ahead. My work bestie suggested veggie tots as a tasty vegetable option, and I love them in the air fryer, so I’m stocking up. If you also hate veggies, I highly recommend them. That’s Friday. On Saturday, I’m heading out to a farmer’s market in the morning to pick up some Halloween dolls from a vendor there and maybe do some browsing. Jerry and I are planning on re-watching Hell House LLC that night, which is one of my favorite movies, and I think that’s about it. Honestly, I really don’t like busy weekends, so this is enough for me. As always, lots of laundry, cleaning, organizing for the week ahead, blah blah blah.
That’s five for now — see you in the next chapter.
