Books Read
I only finished two books this month. I’m not totally shocked, since June was my first FULL month back at work. Anyway, reviews are coming next week.
- The Rural Diaries by Hilarie Burton Morgan
- The 7.5 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton
Movies Watched
- It, Chapter 2: we actually started this in May, but didn’t finish it until June. Oops. I wasn’t a big fan and thought the first was much better.
Shows Watched
- Love After Lockup
- Life After Lockup
- The Circle
Happenings & Tidbits
- Since I went back to work in mid-May, June was my first full month back at work, albeit with limited hours and services to the public. It feels good to be back, but I also have been stressed again about time and balancing everything, but that’s life! I’ve been re-adjusting to being back at work, having new responsibilities since our services are currently a little altered, and also being in a new workspace (my former office-mate and I got moved to cubicles).
- I spent a ton of time updating pages on the blog, like my “About” page and several more. It’s amazing how quickly blog pages get out of date, right? I really just wanted to get everything more current and it also never hurts working on ways to improve SEO for the blog.
- Caleb got stung by a bee and his hand blew up like a balloon. That was scary. A couple of weeks later, he got bug bites on his face, and his whole face swelled up too. He did go to the doctor, but they said it was normal. Yikes.
- We celebrated Father’s Day over a really nice weekend. We got a new sprinkler toy for the kids, so we sat out with them and my parents stopped by. I ordered pizza for dinner since it’s Jerry’s favorite, and I gifted him new ear buds and a travel mug since we both love tea now. Lol.
- We had some horrible family drama with my cousins that is basically leading to a falling out. It’s crappy, but what can you do?
- I went out to dinner for the first time in MONTHS! Caleb and I joined my mom and aunt, along with some “new” cousins / aunts we discovered via one of those ancestry type situations. We went to a BBQ place and sat outside, then went out for ice cream (also outside, no worries). It was nice to finally eat at a restaurant again, and of course nice to meet “new” members of the family.
- I finally reunited with my two besties and our sons. We sat outside and watched them play while having some pizza for dinner. It was so nice to just sit and chat with my best friends again, because it had been MONTHS.
- The most exciting part of the month was that our local thrift stores finally re-opened! Hallelujah! What I missed most during all of these closures was working at work instead of from home, and going thrifting. My mom and I have hit up Savers twice already, and multiple Goodwill stores. We usually bring the boys with us, and yes, they wear masks. We’re doing a fun little thing where we’re going to try and hit up all the local Goodwills and thrift stores that we haven’t been to before (we have a few in our town that we frequent all the time, and several in adjoining towns). We went to one in Brockport a couple of weeks ago and it was GREAT.
- My work bestie and I (we have a bookstagram together) were asked to be guest book talkers for another local library. We did it via Zoom and were asked to talk about a “beachy” read that we love. I chose Swimming for Sunlight by Allie Larkin. I also mentioned The Hating Game by Sally Thorne because duh. We had the BEST time and felt honored to be asked.
- I had my ultrasound that I needed to get for surgery, and am now one step closer to being cleared for my bariatric surgery. It was on a Friday and I took the day off so I could have a long weekend. My dad was off to, so I asked him to drive me because I had to park in a parking garage, and that gives me bad anxiety. Noooope.
- I bought some fun decals from my blogging friend’s Etsy shop, and am now obsessed with making my own custom water bottles. My current favorite is the hot pink “I’m a pretty big deal on my blog” decal that I put on a black water bottle. Love it and am getting lots of compliments on it at work.
- Holden isn’t quite talking yet, but he occasionally will try to say “hi” or “uh oh,” so that’s new and exciting! He also attempts to say “thank you,” and will sometimes yell “mamamamama,” (though I don’t think he knows what it means yet). I love my little ham. He loves to dance and is full of energy.
Coming Up
We don’t have a whole lot coming up in July, because COVID, but here’s what IS on the calendar.
- I have my next virtual dietitian appointment this month. I really, really hope she will finally clear me after this one so I can just be done with her!
- I also have my sleep study this month, and that’s the LAST thing I needed to check off on my pre-surgery list, so I’m getting very close now. I have to go sleep there at the sleep clinic next week. This should be interesting.
- 4th of July long weekend, going on right now! Yessss. We’ll be celebrating with my immediate family only, at my brother’s house.
- My mom’s birthday is today, and my nephew’s was on Wednesday. Happy birthday!
Hope that you all have a fantastic month of July! Maybe things will get a bit more back to normal? Time will tell…
