ONE.
Remember how my migraines got really bad a few weeks ago because of a new birth control? Well, they seemed to have settled down a bit and taper off again, but I DID get hit with another one on Tuesday. I ended up staying home that day so I could take my medication and nap. I was almost back to new the next day, which was good. Previously, it was taking me a couple of days to fully get rid of a migraine. At any rate, I did email my doctor to ask her about some new migraine medication options since I don’t love what I’ve been taking (Sumatriptan). I’ve tried a few others over the years, but triptans are the most popular, and there are honestly not that many migraine meds out there. Sigh.
TWO.
You all know I’m a big true crime junkie, and you know what show I’ve been into lately?! 20/20. I have a ton of episodes on my DVR, and just started digging into them over the last couple of weeks. I find that most of the episodes are really well done, and they cover both high profile and lesser known criminal cases. I love ALL my crime shows, but 20/20 tends to have a lot less of the corny narration and scene re-enactments that many of the shows utilize.
THREE.
Know what else I’ve been loving lately? Jerry works at a community college that has both a culinary program and a hospitality program. At the college, they have a restaurant that is run by the students of those two programs each semester during lunch hours. Because it’s run by student cooks, it is DIRT CHEAP and the food is excellent. I’ve been there a few times (you can dine in), but recently started ordering take out about 1-2 times a week. I put the order in online and Jerry goes and picks up. At work, we’re still working weird “COVID hours” right now, which means two evenings until 7:00, so I’m always starved when I get home. This works out especially well on those days. Most students are doing virtual learning right now, so the restaurant has been pretty slow, and if my orders help both them and me? Win-win! I’ve been really loving their paninis and homemade chips. YUM.
FOUR.
As Caleb did, Holden has a speech delay now too. Caleb was in Early Intervention for years, and now Holden is starting the process too, so he can get speech therapy. No, I am not worried since he’s only 2 and Caleb didn’t talk until 3.5 (he speaks perfectly now, by the way), but the doctor really wanted us to do it. Anyway, he says “hi,” “bye,” and “chee” when he’s getting his picture taken. The other day he tried to say “Holden” once (but refuses to again), and “ya ya ya!” when I asked him if he wanted to brush his teeth… so we’re getting there (ish).
FIVE.
Tonight after work we are taking Caleb to his favorite and beloved Spooky Hayride. We did this for the first time last year at Powers farm, and he loved it so much that we had to go twice last year! It’s super adorable, and is just a short ride through their woods in the dark, and they have animatronics, including a skeleton band. We’ll also grab some cookies and donuts, I’m sure, since they have a vast bakery and cute shop. I’m probably as excited as he is! Holden will be going to Mimi’s, because he’s a naughty toddler and not quite ready for a hayride. Maybe next year!
That’s five for now — see you in the next chapter.
