Get Sh*t Done: October 2020 Goals

Happy October! Tis my favorite month of the year! I have a lot of fall and Halloween related goals this month, naturally. Let’s take a look... but first, a recap of September.

September 2020 Goals Recap

Read / finish four books: FAIL.
Finish my book club book in time for the meeting: FAIL. I was close though! We read Chocolate Chip Murder by Joanne Fluke and I LOVED it!
✅ Complete Quick Start 2 for Pink Zebra: DONE! Not only did I hit QS2 weeks early, I also hit my final Quick Start, QS3, on September 29… I had until November 5 to do it!
Finish watching Creepshow, season one: FAIL. I forgot about this one!
✅ Finish watching Teen Mom: Young and Pregnant: DONE!
✅ Finish watching Making a Murderer: DONE! I finished the last episode finally, late last night. It took me forever to get through season two because it was not nearly as good as season one.
Watch at least two horror movies: FAIL. I was super into crime documentaries this month instead. I mean, I ALWAYS am, but it was even more so this month.
Listen to 10 podcast episodes: FAIL. Very  close though! I listened to eight more episodes of Congratulations.
Go on eight walks: FAIL. Totally forgot this.
✅ Get fry cakes from at least one farm: DONE! We got through four farms and one donut shop in September for Donut Quest!
Purchase at least three shirts from Unfiltered Gear: DONE! I ordered three sweatshirts.
Pay 2/3 of medical bills: FAIL. Rolling this over.
❌ Lose five pounds: FAIL. Not a good month.
✅ Total Completed: 5 of 13. Not great, but better than the crap shoot that my August goals were, so I’m happy enough with it!

October 2020 Goals

  • Schedule car appointments: Jerry and I both need inspections and work done to our cars. I get a health insurance reimbursement check in November, so we’re planning on getting both cars done then. I’d like to get them scheduled this month though so that we can be sure to get on their November schedule. I need brakes and a tire change. Jerry also needs some work done on his brakes.
  • Finish October book club book in time for the meeting: we’re reading a horror novel called The House on Cold Hill by Peter James, and so far, so good!
  • Finish three horror books: I pretty much read horror exclusively in October!
  • Finish watching Creepshow, season one: rollover goal.
  • Finish watching Halloween Baking Championship: I’m obsessed with the Food Network seasonal shows every year! I need to try and finish it before Halloween though!
  • Finish watching Halloween Wars: see above!
  • Finish watching Outrageous Pumpkins: see above, though this is a new show this year! I haven’t even started any of these three yet and sometimes struggle to finish them by Halloween.
  • Re-watch Hell House LLC: one of my favorites and I’ve been dying to re-watch it!
  • Watch three horror movies in total: because it’s spooky season, and because they’re our favorite anyway. Duh!
  • Get a new nutritionist: I have contacted the bariatric surgery department about getting a new one, but I haven’t heard back yet. I need to follow up.
  • Pay off all three medical bills: these are all small ($20 copays) so there is no reason we can’t do this soon.
  • Hit 1000 SV for Pink Zebra: I had over 1,000 in September and over 1,500 in October, but I am setting the goal low because I feel it’s more attainable. Sales may have been high because I was just launching my business. We shall see.
  • Get to six more donut places: There are still nine on the list and we are running out of time! A lot of these places stop serving fry cakes after Halloween. Ahhh! Need more weekends.
  • Take Caleb to Powers for their spooky event: Caleb was SO obsessed with their spooky night time hayride last year that we went twice. This year, they will be doing it as a walking event once it gets busier. I’m not sure if it will be a ride or a walk when we go, but we need to get there. Bonus: this will also count toward the above goal because they serve all kinds of donuts and other goodies.
  • Save up for and go on overnight spooky trip: I want to go to this new haunt attraction that’s a little over two hours away. They’re also doing a deal where you can get tickets to the haunt PLUS dinner for two. Since it’s kind of far away, I also want to stay overnight. Jerry and I haven’t had a date night in a LONG time, plus our wedding anniversary is this month, so it seems perfect. As long as we can save up enough money, we have plans to do this!
  • Have a fun Halloween: I have NO idea what Halloween will look like this year. We always host it at our house with plenty of food and trick or treating, but I don’t know if people will be out trick or treating this year. If not, we want to do something fun with the kids, like dress them up and go to dinner.
Okay, that ended up being a lot more than I expected. I was going to keep adding more fall things that we usually do, like the pumpkin patch, but 2020 is crazy and insane, so we kind of just have to go with the flow right now. I am not good at going with the flow, but I’m being forced to learn this year, aren’t I?!

One messy step at a time still moves you forward.
