Weekend Recap (14)

Back for another weekend recap, though I feel like they’re all pretty similar since COVID started! Ah well.

Friday I worked until 5, and it was kind of a crappy day, if I’m being honest. One of my colleagues retired and it was her last day. She was a good friend to me because we were officemates up until the COVID lockdown during which we got moved to cubicles. We shared a lot of conversations, laughs, and good times. She always offered me wisdom and advice too, on professional, personal, and motherhood levels, and I will really miss her.

There was also a really bad accident in my town on Friday and it really shook me up that day for some reason. There’s a Spanish takeout restaurant about five minutes from us that my whole family frequents. A woman was walking out after picking up lunch, when a car going between 80 and 100 mph flew down the street, went over the curb, hit this lady, and then proceeded to run into a house. The women died instantly. This is a residential area with 35 mph zones. Over the weekend they released the names, and she was a 40-something nurse, mother, and grandmother. I actually drove by the scene over the weekend when I was out running errands (not on purpose, I just had to drive by because of where I was going). There were people there with flowers and it brought tears to my eyes.

Anyway, those were some of the reasons I did not enjoy Friday.

After I got out at 5, I had to run several errands right after work. First, I stopped at Something Delicious Bakery to pick up a treat. They sell cookie dough and I hadn’t been there in several months, so I decided to treat myself (crappy day, remember?). I also grabbed a huge cookie for the kids. Then I stopped through the KFC drive through to get the kids some popcorn chicken for dinner, because it’s their FAVORITE. Finally, I made my last stop at Kohl’s to do a curbside pickup of Yeti in My Spaghetti which is one of Caleb’s Christmas gifts. I finally got home a little after 6 to some nice treats. Jerry had baked some Conchas and a new snickerdoodle recipe he tried. He’s been doing so much baking lately, which is awesome. I also had a prize waiting for me in the mail from my Pink Zebra upline, Jenny. She surprised me with a sold out winter bird Accent Shade I had been wanting! That made my day a little better. Jerry had also stopped at Pino’s for dinner and I had ordered alfredo. After I got the kids and myself settled with our dinners, we watched some more of The Great Christmas Light Fight, and then enjoyed some dessert. I didn’t stay up late because it was a draining week and day.

Saturday I was up around 8. I unboxed a few Pink Zebra orders and did a quick live video on my page. After that, I got ready for the day, then left around 11 to run some errands. I brought both the boys with me, just to get them out of the house. I had to go to a different Kohls to pick up a gift for Jerry, pick up a couple of things I found on Facebook, drop off some of Jerry’s treats to my parent’s house… the list goes on. It felt like we were gone forever, but I wanted to get all of our little weekend errands done with so that the rest of the weekend could be spent at home. We got home around 1, had a quick lunch, then Holden and I both took a nap from about 2 to 4. Ahh. I love a good nap.

After we woke up, I did a little work on the laptop, making up a gift certificate for my PZ business. We ate some leftover alfredo from Pino’s for dinner (it wasn’t that great… needed more sauce), and watched more of  The Great Christmas Light Fight. That night, I also finished my next Hallmark Christmas movie: USS Christmas.

Sunday morning, we realized the kids were behind on their chocolate advent calendars. We caught Caleb up, and the poor kid had to eat about 7 or 8 chocolates. Aww. He hated it. NOT. Holden, on the other hand, had already massacred his calendar, and just finished massacring it this day.
Holden effed that calendar right up!
After the advent calendar incident, I worked on Pink Zebra from about 10 – 1-ish. I had a couple of big orders come in via FedEx, so I had to open, sort, and package those for local pick ups. I also had to make up some blends and loyalty rewards. Then I had to arrange pick ups with customers. I had several people come by throughout the day, so I was making trips to and from my pick up bin all day. I love when people get their orders and are so excited about them! After that, I was kind of beat, so I put Holden down for a nap, then I laid on the couch and rested for awhile. Caleb ran around the house, screaming like a banshee as usual, so I didn’t sleep, but I did try to relax a bit… as much as one can anyway under the circumstances lol. The rest of the day was pretty boring. I put some laundry away, started another Hallmark movie, had some pierogies for dinner.

The kids were honestly pretty awful this weekend, and it was a rough one. Caleb’s usually a sweet little soul, but lately he’s been instigating and purposely doing things to irritate me and his brother. He had Holden shrieking all weekend, so I was ALSO shrieking all weekend. I hate being that mom who always yells, but they were pretty bad almost the entire weekend. Let’s hope it was just a fluke and that next weekend is much better for all of us!
