What The Boys Are Getting for Christmas

It’s very hard to believe that Christmas is just a couple of weeks away now! Yikes! Luckily, we’re almost done with our Christmas shopping. I know I’ve mentioned it before, but we are not the kind of parents who go overboard for Christmas. We like to keep it simple, we like to keep the toys to a minimum, and we like to buy gifts that they’ll use / enjoy / learn from for awhile because they have soooo many toys and they get bored of them so fast. And also, I should mention, when I say “we,” I really mean “I.” See this meme below? This was 100% true in my house growing up, and it is 100% true in my house now, too. The moms always do the Christmas shopping (although the gifts are still from “Santa” right now). It’s fine. I usually tell Jerry what I’m picking out for the kids and he says “oh, cool!”

So anyway, I thought it might be cool to share what we’re getting the boys for Christmas this year!

For stockings, I’ll just put a few fun things in each like some candies, a ring pop, and gummy bears. Nothing major, and I probably won’t wrap them. Here’s where we get to the actual gifts though! I’ve included the links to where I purchased these items from, but I do apologize if some of them are gone now!

For Holden

  • Animated Puppy: I thought this animated puppy would be cute for him. He’s not very gentle with our dog, Dakota, so I thought having his “own” dog would teach him a little more about pets, plus it’s cute!
  • My First Remote and Game Controller: I chose this set for him because he’s always grabbing Jerry’s game controller, and the TV remote, so I thought he’d have fun with his own set (and maybe leave ours alone) Haha!
  • Perfect Petzzz Mini Alaskan Husky: We have these little “pets” at the library, and they “breathe” like real animals. They’re cute and soothing, so I chose one for each of the boys. I chose the husky for Holden because it’s Jerry’s favorite breed.
  • Mini Indoor Trampoline: This mini trampoline is really for both kids, and it might seem like a bad idea, but it’s tiny, has a handle, and is actually recommended for children who need extra sensory input (Caleb). It’s for both of them, really, but we’re going to put it in Holden’s room because it’s carpeted, so we’ll call it Holden’s. LOL.

For Caleb

  • Pancake Pile-Up game: I just found this while browsing on Kohls and thought it looked cute, educational, and fun. Caleb also needs help with his motor skills and fingers, so I thought this would be perfect.
  • Yeti in My Spaghetti game: Caleb kept saying he wanted this whenever he saw the commercial, and it looked cute! I got a good deal on it with a sale and Kohls cash too, so why not?
  • Boo! Scared You! book: I brought this board book home from the library for Halloween and Caleb loved it. He wanted his own, so I decided it’d make a great Christmas present. It’s a lift the flap deal, so I think that’s why he loves it so much! It’s a little “young” for him, but he loves it, so who cares?!
  • Perfect Petzzz Mini Pug: We got Caleb one of these mini “breathing” dogs too, and I picked the Pug for him because it’s my favorite breed. The pug appears to be sold out right now though.
  • Free Willy Collection on DVD: This is the first real movie that Caleb ever really watched, and even then, it was kind of half watched because he does not sit still lol, but we did watch the series together last year and he enjoyed it! I wanted him to have it on DVD so that we could watch it again whenever he wanted to.
  • DVD player: We haven’t purchased it yet, but we’re getting him a DVD player for his room. Yes, it seems a little outdated, but we still watch DVDs! Not everything is on Netflix (such as Free Willy! I had to put them all on hold at my library last year!), and most importantly, Caleb is technology obsessed. He has a TV and a Roku, but he LOVES gadgets, remotes, DVDs, etc., so he will be thrilled with this, trust me.

And that’s it so far! Holden is too young to really know what the heck is going on, but we may need to get him another small gift or two to round out his list a bit. I might pick him out a book or a puzzle.
