Weekend Recap (15)

Holy cow, we just wrapped up the last weekend before Christmas! Crazy, right?!

Here’s what our weekend looked like.

Friday, I worked until 5, then made a quick stop on the way home to pick up something I bought on Facebook. In my quest to get organized during my holiday staycation, I found some craft bins for sale on FB Marketplace. Bonus: the lady lived about three minutes away from me.

After that, I rushed home to pick up Jerry and the boys. We were headed to our favorite annual dinner with Santa and Rudolph at Char Broil. We’ve been going yearly since Caleb was a baby. We honestly didn’t think we’d get to do ANY of our usual Christmas activities this year, and were thrilled to find out they were still doing this. Tables were limited to four people, masks were required, and Santa was behind Plexiglass. For the most part, the kids were behaved and ate their dinner, so all in all, it was a success.
On the way home, I wanted some hot chocolate, so we stopped at McDonalds where Caleb also wanted a sundae. While waiting in the drive thru line, I jokingly said to Jerry: “they’re either going to tell us the ice cream machine is down or they can’t make hot chocolate.” Well, lo and behold, they did in fact tell us they couldn’t make hot chocolate. Why? I have no idea, so I settled for an Oreo McFlurry instead.

Saturday, we got up about 8:30, and Jerry had already gone and gotten donuts from Krazy Cakes… yum! He also made snickerdoodles. My husband has been loving to bake lately. He tried a couple of different varieties over the weekend, so we will share the favorite recipe this week! Anyway, we ate our donuts and cookies while watching an episode of Holiday Baking Championship. My friend Christine also dropped off some Christmas cookies, too. She usually gives them out at book club every year, but we canceled for the month because of COVID, so this was such a sweet surprise.
After a lunch of pizza, Holden and I napped until right before dinner time. Then I got up and had to prep a couple of Pink Zebra orders and drop those off. On my way home, I stopped and picked up an order of birria tacos from a local girl who makes the best tacos EVER. We watched more Holiday Baking Championship, then I started a Hallmark Christmas movie after the kids went to bed.
Sunday morning, Jerry went to Wegmans and got us donuts AGAIN! I spent a couple of hours working on more Pink Zebra orders and getting those ready to be picked up. Once those were ready, I had to head out to Walmart to pick up an order. It contained the last of our gifts, but of course, several items were out of stock. Sigh. Anyway, we all just kind of putzed around the rest of the day. I dropped Caleb off to my parent’s house around dinner for his “Christmas sleepover,” then I came home and made some mac and cheese. After Holden went to bed, Jerry and I binged through two more episodes of Holiday Baking Championship. He had to hit the hay early to get up for work, so I stayed up and finished my Hallmark movie: A Nashville Christmas Carol.

And there you have it… our very anticlimatic final weekend before Christmas!
